TERMINATION OF THE NATIONAL STATE OF DISASTER (IMPACT OF SEVERE

ELECTRICITY SUPPLY CONSTRAINT)

DISASTER MANAGEMENT ACT, 2002: (ACT NO. 57 OF 2002):

I, Ms Thembi Nkadimeng Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, designated

under section 3 of the Act, in terms of section 27(5)(b) of the Act hereby terminate the national
state of disaster which was declared on 09 February 2023 as published in Government Gazette
No. 48009 in Notice No.3019.

All regulations and directions made in terms of section 27(2) of the Act pursuant to the declaration
of the national state of disaster to deal with the impact or the severe electricity supply constraint
is hereby repealed with immediate effect

DISASTER MANAGEMENT ACT, 2002

REVOCATION OF THE CLASSIFICATION OF THE SEVERE ELECTRCITY SUPPLY

CONSTRAINT AS A NATIONAL DISASTER

I, Dr Elias Sithole, in my capacity as Head of the National Disaster Management Centre,

following the termination of the national state of disaster by the Minister of Cooperative
Governance and Traditional Affairs, give notice that the National Disaster Management
Centre hereby revokes the classification of the severe electricity supply constraint as a
national disaster.

I hereby, in terms of Section 20(2) of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 (Act No. 57 of
2002), call upon organs of state, the private sector, non-governmental organisations,
communities and individuals to continue working together, through formal and informal
initiatives to use electricity sparingly and build resilience to reduce the ongoing impact of
the electricity supply constraint.
