Mother Teresa was born in Skopje on 26 August 1910.
Mother Teresa's real
name was Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu. She chose the name Mother Teresa after she spent time in Ireland at the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She had two sisters and was the youngest of the three girls. After she left to join the Sisters of Loreto she never saw her mother or her sisters again. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her services to charity and the poor. Goce Delcev was considered a legendary visionary and revolutionary figure, whose brilliant career was entirely dedicated to the cause of his nation. As a public educator, Delcev began to inspire and inflame the imaginations of the Macedonian people with ideas of liberation and social justice. He illuminated the people, induced optimism and instilled the notion of freedom. In the village of Banica, Delcev was killed in heroic defense. Todor "Toše" Proeski was a Macedonian multi-genre singer and songwriter. He was popular across the entire Balkan area and was considered a top act of the local Macedonian music scene. He was dubbed "Elvis Presley of the Balkans" by BBC News. He died in a car crash at the age of 26.
