Ehud the lefty and Eglon the hefty

Judges 3: 12-30

Eglon was the king of Moab who had dominated Israel for 18 years. God raised up Ehud,
a left-handed man, to be the deliverer of Israel.
Eglon received a "message" from Ehud. This message was presented as a 1-foot-long, 6-
inch-long dagger. To convey his confidential message, Ehud was permitted access to the king's
room by the servants of Eglon. According to how the Bible is written, Ehud was likely checked
to see if he had any weapons, but since he was left-handed, he was able to hide his dagger in a
spot the servants didn't look.
Eglon has a large build. To meet Ehud, he stood up. Ehud showed the dagger when the
king rose up and then stabbed the king in the abdomen. According to the Bible, the knife was
swallowed up by Eglon's large frame, making it impossible for Ehud to retrieve it.
Through a door on the outside, Ehud got away. The monarch may have required a longer
private moment, so the attendants outside the king's chamber didn't bother him. The king had
already passed away by the time they opened the door to check on him, and Ehud had fled to
meet the Israeli army. They then entered the city and wiped off the Moabites' army.
