BUSINESS PLAN FOR SAMMY FARM ENTERPRISE

Summary of the business plan

Sammy Farm Enterprise is a startup animal farming business that is being organized by Mr. Sumo Wolobah Sammy
with the main purpose of supplying the Liberian market with needed organic meat. This business shall be positioned
in the market to produce life animals for meat on the Liberian market.
I the Manager, in person of Sumo Wolobah Sammy is a Liberian and one of the beneficiaries of the Agriculture
Scholarship program at the Free Pentecostal College. My Old parents felt very glad when I informed them that I was
selected by my college to benefit from this agriculture program that is headed by Dr. Jallah Kennedy and Partners.
This loan request is meant to build my capacity in the agribusiness sector and to motivate traditional animal farmers to
commercialize their business. As we build our capacities in the animal industry, the huge importation of chemical
frozen foods in Liberia will reduce by the increase of our organic meat on the market. In a period of two three years,
wee will be able to create job opportunities for ten (10) which will improve the lives of over 150 family members in
Lofa county. My engagement into this business will build my knowledge in animal science and life stock
management.

I am requesting a total of US$3,400.00 to enable me successfully start and implement this business, while our own
contribution is to provide local materials for the construction and to make cassava farm to feed our cattle is estimated
at US$530.00. This loan is meant to support us build a center for our animals and to purchase a total of 30 goats which
shall include 29 nanny goats and 1 billy goat. These animals will be purchased in Guinea where best species that
produces twice a year can be found. There is also provision for transportation, treatment for these animals and
payment of farm manager who will also serve as security for the animals.

With proper management, Sammy Farm Enterprise will supply the market with 50 goats for the first sales at
US$60.00. Thus, a total of US$3,000.00 shall be realized as gross income which will enable us to breakeven in the
second year of our production by selling 75 goats at US$ 60.

Customers
Wholesalers / Off-takers: These customers will buy our animals and sell to retailers for the purpose of profit making
and balanced food nutrition in the country.
Retailers: These customers will buy from Wholesalers / Off-takers and sell to final consumers for the purpose of
making and balanced food nutrition in the country.

Advantages
1. This organization is Liberian owned and have more foods for our animals to live on. The Executive director
will not be buying land to grow animals’ feeds because we have our own family land
2. Goats are easily maintained in our communities
3. I the technical knowledge to grow and care for our cattle
4. Our product is in demand as almost everyone love to eat goat meat on special occasions

The business products & process

Goats in Liberia are basically self-feed in communities with little or no food support from owners. Is not really that
goats owners are careless about their animals but that most of the foods for goats are organically and naturally grown
everywhere around the town.
Sammy Farm Enterprise intends to purchase goats that produce twice a year from the Guinea High lands. The site for
this investment shall be in Johnny’s Town on the Voinjama, Kolahun high way. Johnny’s town is the home of the
Proprietor where our strength in management and security can be maximized.
Sammy Farm Enterprise will hire one person who will provide food and care for our animals on a regular basis.

The Business Inputs

The main inputs of the business and the expected investment needed to increase production are the construction of a
special hall as resting and sleeping place for our animals and growing of fresh cassava leaves for our animals. We will
realistically control our cattle by providing their food and secure resting place.

The inputs of the Sammy Farm Enterprise for the construction of the facility for our goats include but the provision of
needed local materials and to make at least 1 hectare of cassava farm to feed our cattle. We will also provide the
construction site in Johnny’s Town itself.

3. Our animals will have a shelter
4. Knowledgeable in animal care and treatment
WEAKNESSES
1. Business not register yet
OPPORTUNITIES
1. Our animals can easily be caught by us because they will be contained to a particular area at night
2. We have right price for our animals during sales
3. We have the opportunity to expand the business on a contained farm – for we have the land.
THREATS
1. Animal disease and theft
RISKS MANAGEMENT
This section describes how the business will counteract on the main weaknesses and threats of the SWOT.
Sammy farm Enterprise will make the farm attractive by the form of care we provide for our animals. We are most
likely the first to create dwelling for animals. Across Lofa most animal farmers do not even think about creating
centers for their animal. Animals do not have shelters to rest when it is raining.
Since our roads are bad, we ourselves will take our animals to the market as we build capacity. Is eminent that there
will be animals’ disease but we will invite animal doctor periodically to care and treatment when necessary. The farm
Manager or technician will provide maximal security because there is no animal theft in our community.
