Social support-informational refers to guidance or advice was given to someone which

will help him/her to go through a certain problem. The advice must pose facts and a lot of

knowledge—for example, a lawyer guiding couples who want a divorce that is social,

informational support. The teacher also gives informational support, while a parent can give both

social supports. The significance of informational support is that it makes the affected wiser.

Social support Enhances easy settlement of the problem. When making big decisional changes,

informational support is very vital. Emotional support can be defined as expressions of care,

sympathy, empathy, and concern towards someone. Emotional support can be offered by

religious and spiritual leaders or mates, psychologists, community activities, and also your pets.

Emotional support is very important as it improves mental health and is very crucial in

controlling serious problems. Having a family member or a friend who can help you handle

tremendous grief can be a good way to deliver anxiety and stress.

Social support-informational and emotional are also important in streamlining one’s

behavior. Been in a social group can affect what someone eats, smoke or drink. Its easier to quit
the use of illegal substances through encouragement and support from a social group. Study

shows that solid social support reduces trauma and serious heart disease as stress can reduce

body immunity. Informational and emotional support keeps us focused and motivated in

attaining goals. People trying to pursue certain course will relate to people are trying to attain

some goals or people who have already achieved same. This can be from motivation, empathy,

or support.

Cultural variations in the intergenerational kinship network are the diversity of cultures

and practices within related people but varying from age. Family life changes have elevated the

value of kinship networks. Recent family life changes have improved contacts in external

households. For example, people in modern life do not live-in a natural family. They have

traveled to different places, even abroad, where there are a diversity of cultures. Individuals live

in a variety of life sequences and many relationships, which remain critical since formation.

Cultural variations in intergenerational kinship networks have been caused by interaction with

outside households.

Various factors have influenced grandparents giving parental care to their grandchild.

One of the main factors that have influenced grandparents raising their grandchildren is parents

addicted to drugs. Recently parents have been into drugs such as alcohol where they cannot

provide parental care. Besides, mental health and emotional disorder have deterred children from

parental care. This has forced grandparents to take the responsibility. Youthful and inexperienced

parents put grandparents in a position of bringing up their grandchildren. This has been led by

teen pregnancy. Moreover, other parents have been jailed, leaving their children with their

grandparents. Some parents get unwanted pregnancies that lead to neglect and abandonment of

the child, and grandparents take over in providing needed care.

The U.S established national health and aging trends study. This was to enhance quality

health and the good life at older ages. I have learned that a large number of people aging 65 and

above are shut-in homes. The study shows that the need for aged pain control is unmet as unmet

needs are more in 2002 than in 2011.
