Mental health is all about how we act, feel and think.

Mental health is a necessity at every stage of

life, from childhood through adulthood. In the year 2020, over 450 million people are suffering from
mental health problems that affect their personality, mood and behavior. We all have our school,
providers and especially our family to protect the youth’s mental health. However, they have
different ways of supporting and helping the child. The schools are implementing positive youth
development programs. It is promoted through activities and experiences that help develop social,
emotional, physical and cognitive competencies. At the same time, the providers discuss
relationships and school experiences, unlike the school and providers. Our families are always there
for us to listen. Indeed, they’re the people that can always support us by helping us to feel valued,
cared for, supported and guided in life. We don’t need to keep all our problems alone. Besides, help
is always available. We need to open up to our family and express our feelings. Surely, people with
mental health problems can get better, and many recover completely. Having positive mental health,
we can enjoy our life, the environment and the people in it. We will able to overcome hardships in
life.

direct response to what is going on in their lives. To protect the youth's mental health, school,

Family can help protect the youth's mental health by taking care of them, providing them their needs
(such as love and protection), staying by their side especially when they need someone to lean on,
encourage them to open up and listen without judging them, giving them privacy and freedom,
trusting them, respecting and accepting who and what they are, giving them less pressure, supporting
them and being a good influence, companion and family to them. Furthermore, schools can support
students' mental health by developing a positive, supportive, and healthy environment, teaching and
reinforcing positive attitudes and decision-making, and implementing initiatives that encourage the
development of social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills. Children with good mental health
can think clearly, improve socially, and learn new skills. Moreover, good mental wellbeing allows
children and teens to build the strength needed to meet the challenges of life and grow into stable and

Kate Angelie G. Inot Grade 8 Aristotle Week 3 Comparative Essay “Mental health” refers to how
people think, feel and act as they face life’s situations. Our mental health affects how we handle
stress, relate to one another and make decisions. And mental health influences the way individuals
look at themselves, their lives and others in their lives. Like physical health, mental health is
important at every stage of life. Like adults, children and adolescents can have mental health
disorders that interfere with the way they think, feel and act. When untreated, mental health disorders
can lead to school failure, family conflicts, drug abuse, violence and even suicide. Almost half of the
young generation across the globe are experiencing mental health problems. Most of them are
experiencing different forms of depression and anxiety caused by peer pressure, family concerns, and
poor self-esteem. Over the course of your life, if you experience mental health problems, your
thinking, mood, and behavior could be affected. Your mental health is also important because it can
affect your physical health. Mental health problems are real, painful, and sometimes severe. Mental
health problems can be treated. To find help, talk to your parents, school counselor, or health care
provider.
Youths nowadays are experiencing various types of problems that cause confusion. The confusion
that they feel may come from stress, abuse, overthinking, isolation, bereavement, and more. As a
result, a stigma is attached to them that causes them to feel reluctant to seek for help. However, in
order for them to not feel ashamed, we should offer our ears and shoulder for them to lean on.
According to the infographic, 48%-66% of adults who experienced strong connections as youth were
less likely to have mental health issues, use drugs, and engage in risky sexual behavior. And, this is
only because of a strong connection between a person or a group. Moreover, the benefit of social
connections and good mental health are numerous. It is proven that strong connections could lower
the rates of anxiety and depression, higher self-esteem, greater empathy, and more trusting and
cooperative relationships. Thus, open conversations, discussing, understanding, school programs (to
implement positive youth development), and connecting with people are some factors that could help
people with issues. And lastly, it is important to note that there is no health without a vigorous mental
health.

the youth is experiencing these mental health problems than in the past. All of the three play
important roles in our mental well-being and are directly or indirectly shaping our reality as "battles
of superiority". Furthermore, school and family are similar in terms of the frequency of the youth's
exposure to it and how they're the most influential. The school leans mostly on peer pressure and
family is more to passing unhealthy or toxic mentality to their children in order to affect someone's
mental health. Providers on the other hand could affect someone's mental wellness mostly because of
the stigma around the health facilities. In conclusion, all of them could lessen these problems by
simply being open-minded enough, well-researched in these topics, and a believer in the fact that we
all suffer differently. Families could help their children with mental health problems by encouraging
them to comfortably speak up and learn life more. On the other hand, schools can help by
disciplining or actually educating the ignorant and arrogant people and having programs related to
mental health to spread awareness. Meanwhile, providers could affect someone's mental wellbeing
positively by not being bias to certain types of people and do their job more than as a "salary
investment" event.

Connectedness During this time of quarantines and social distancing it is normal to feel lonely. If it
combined by the person's everyday stressors, can be lead to feel as though our mental health and
well-being are depleted. Mental health influences how we think, feel, adn behave in daily life. It
affects the person's ability to handle stress, overcome challenges, build and maintain relationships
with other people, and recover from difficulties. In school, the person can develop more and explore
more. Socializing to other people can help boost and protect the mental health of todays youth. The
providers, it is where you can talk about your problems to. Discuss things that bothers you. Examples
of that are counselors. The parents, are the one who protects their children from the things they know
that can hurt them. Since parents knows how hard this challenge to the children. As one of the people
in today's youth, all I can say is that Mental health is important. Reach out to someone so that it will
decrease the rate of people ending their lives due to depression. I know that getting help is not
enough but its a start for you to protect yourself from things you shouldn't do.

Adolescence is a crucial period for establishing and sustaining essential social and emotional
behaviors that contribute to mental health. Adopting good sleep habits, daily exercise, problem-
solving and interpersonal skills, and learning to control emotions are only a few of them. Mental
health conditions are influenced by a variety of factors. The greater the number of risk factors that
teenagers are exposed to, the more negative effects on their mental health are likely to occur. This
problem with youth is happening worldwide. The community needs to be concerned about this. This
problem requires a solution. Parents can have frequent and open conversations with their children.
Parents can also provide constant warmth, care, and support. Parents can teach and model strong
social and emotional skills and encourage positive peer relationships. Schools can implement positive
youth development programs, promote social and emotional competency and build resilience, help
ensure a positive and safe school environment, teach and reinforce positive behaviors and decision-
making, and help ensure access to school-based mental health support. Providers can discuss
relationships and school experiences. Everyone in the community can help protect the youth's mental
health, not only family, schools and providers. We need to stop violence (including harsh parenting
and bullying), sexual violence, and socioeconomic problems because these are recognized risks for
mental health. Furthermore, we must stop harmful use of alcohol, abuse in childhood, and bullying
because these are risk factors for suicide. Everyone should help protect the youth's mental health.
Everyone needs to prevent young people from having mental and emotional disorders. Youth are the
future of this world. Everyone must help them with their mental health. Our national hero of the
Philippines, Dr. Jose Rizal, said, "The Youth is the hope of the nation (Kabataan ang pag-asa ng

the most common type of social discrimination in school but they are as much as you think such as

causes (such as birth trauma, brain injury or drug abuse) can directly affect brain chemistry and
contribute to mental illness. Some teenagers have experienced this kind of traumas in their life,
especially in school where they can meet some individuals that can cause bad influence like drugs,
cigarettes and alcohol. We can prevent it by understanding and to be aware what is the effect and also
