I could say that

bias, is favoritism inclined with positivity or negativity towards or away from one way of thinking. In a
particular situation where you have to pick sides in a competition. Between your friend and your friends
enemy, naturally you would side with your friend. This is bias toward something whereas you are biased
against your friends enemy.

It is something that all of us possess, because of the society and environment we grow up in. We
encounter difficult situations where we have this natural mind set to decide whether whose side we are
on. By this we show our true colors and show how biased we are may it be towards or against
something or someone. Like how in some movies and tv series, we have this natural feeling of having a
bias towards people who are the protagonist and we sometimes disregard the existence and feelings of
the antagonist and refuse to listen and accept their backstory. But this certain biases we possess can
change over time.

Naturally, when we have a bias towards someone or something we tend to blurt out good and positive
words to make everyone believe and listen to you. While we blurt out negative and bad words if we
have a bias against something and someone. People with recognized positions in society and people
who have the power to change ones way of thinking may also have biases, like some politicians who
bought votes by bribing voters to vote for them and people would eventually be biased considering the
fact that they received an amount of money. That’s how our biases change over an amount of time and
how this particular biases we have are applied everyday in our life. Eventually, we experience more
times where we are agitated and appalled to some situations and sooner or later we become more
mature and will choose to understand each side of the story and forget about certain biases.

I have learned from this lesson that every bias is not necessarily a bad bias. Biases are a part of
our lives: we mostly take a side and lean on information, groups, or people. But does that make us bad
people? No, but sometimes yes. We often do not analyze every bit of information from situations.
Thence, we sometimes lean on the negative side. But recognizing or thinking thoroughly, we might use
our bias in a good and proper way.

As a result, we should know what indicates bias. The tone, the words, the information, the
inconsistency, and the situation could help you analyze if it is biased in a good or bad way. For the tone,
we could use the LIDDS: language, images, diction, details, and syntax. For the information and words,
some of them might be excluded or inconsistent to convince you to take their side. And for the situation,
you have to reflect on every bit of it.
After all, being biased will prevent us from approaching a topic from a neutral point of view.
Therefore, we should have awareness, and we should train and sort our thoughts accurately as this will
influence our actions and decisions.
