LECTURE: Introduction

1. Why is it that no one fails clinical pathology?

No one fails in clinical pathology, if the student study well and pay attention, taking notes during
discussion and make good in exams. Additionally, because of doctors also, they are great teachers in the
field of medicine.

2. Why are laboratory procedures commonly use automated machines (two answers)?
- To used more convenient
- No hassle for the rest of laboratory tests and have valid result.

3. How will your knowledge of the clinical laboratory help you achieve your goal a MHAM intern
(two answers)?
- getting familiar with clinical pathology laboratory, inorder to use in the near future, help to
identify the abnormalities to normal one.
- better knowledge in clinical laboratory it will lead to great clinician and have good performance
to diagnose the particular disease.

LABORATORY: test interpretation

1. How will you interpret a test result?

To interpret the test result knowing the problem of specific specimen and they should consider test
results in the context of the clinical presentation.

2. Why will you request for a laboratory test?

I will request for laboratory test for Diagnosis, Monitoring, screening for disease, Prognosis and
Research (to understand the pathophysiology of a particular disease process).
3. What will you do if all of lab tests turn out to be normal?

- It’s a good news for the patient, I will inform him/her so that no worries come off.

4. Why is statistics important in the practice of medicine?


Statistics important in the practice of medicine because it is one of the essential requirements
so that to know the precise information, data, processes and to measure the performance of the
particular studies to be success or failure.

5. What is a critical value?


Values not compatible with life, lists of analytes that truly do have the potential to be lethal if left
unchecked for a short period.
