Script of the Story Ramayana

NARRATOR:

The story begins long ago in the Kingdom of Ayodhya ruled by the great King Dasaratha. The King
lived peacefully with his three wives and four sons.

Rama from Queen Kaushalya, Bharata from Queen Kaikeyi, Lakshmana and Satrughna from Queen
Sumitra.

In neighboring city the ruler’s named King Janak called a swayamvara to select the husband for his
daughter, Sita. All Prince were ask to string the majestic bow of Shiva in order to win Sita’s hand and
be married, but no one can even lift it.

KING JANAK:

I King of Mithila, Janak, with great sadness announce the closing of the contest of my daughter Sita’s
marriage because there is no man on the search Worthy of her hand.

LAKSHMANA:

Wait! I think my brother Rama is worthy of Sita’s hand.

--(Rama lift the bow and string it)--

--(Sita was amaze)--

--(audience clapping)—

NARRATOR:

Rama won the contest and Sita indicate that he was his chosen husband.

--(Sita put garland on Rama)—

NARRATOR:

On the kingdom of Ayodhya…

DASARATHA:

I think it is time that I shall retire and put Rama on the throne, beside Rama is the eldest.

KAIKEYI:

Ooww. There is something that I would like to tell you King.

DASARATHA:

What is it Kaikeyi?
KAIKEYI:

I want you to banish Rama for 14 years in dandak forest and put Bharata on the throne.

DASARATHA:

Bu—but----!

KAIKEYI:

Don’t you remember your promise to me that you will give me whatever I wanted.

--(LEAVE)--

DASARATHA:

--(THINKING)—

NARRATOR:

After Kaikeyi force the King. King Dasaratha decide to give Kaikeyi what she wanted, after all he
promised but he cannot face Rama with the news so Kaikeyi must tell him.

--(Telling Rama)

RAMA:

I have to honor my father!

SITA:

I will come with you, Rama

RAMA:

Bu… but! Sita!

SITA:

I have taken a vow to be with you always and I don’t want to break that!

LAKSHMANA:

Please take me also to you my brother Rama.

RAMA:

--(NOD)--

NARRATOR:

Rama, Sita and Lakshmana crossed the Ganges river with a boat penetrating deeper into the
wilderness of the forest until they reach the dandak forest.
King Dasaratha was so sicken at the loss of his son. He suffered from a terrible illness that none of
the kingdom’s doctor could heal.

DASARATHA:

Rama…… Rama……

BHARATA:

Father, it is me Bharata, your son

DASARATHA:

Bharata, ohh Bharata…. I am dying my dear son.

BHARATA:

Father please don’t say that!

DASARATHA:

It pains me to know that I will leaving you without being able to see Rama. But know that I love you
all my sons equally, and I’m sure you will become magnificent King when I am dead and gone.

BHARATA:

But, I don’t know if I am ready to be a King. I don’t know if I have enough experience and knowledge.

DASARATHA:

Ohh son you may not have as much knowledge and experience as Rama like, but do not worry, for I
shall be reunited with our ancestors. Whenever you are having doubts just look up to the sky and
remember that I will always be there guiding you.

Bye now, my son……. Let me be at peace………

BHARATA:

Good bye…… Father……

NARRATOR:

Bharata had made up his mind. Even his father’s comforting words were not able to convince him
otherwise. He would go to the forest of dandak to seek Rama and convince him to claim the throne.

He reaches the dandak forest and there he saw Rama.

BHARATA:

Rama…….. my brother……. I have grave news.


RAMA:

What news?

BHARATA:

Father is…… father is dead

RAMA:

What? How could these be?

BHARATA:

When you left. He become miserable and an illness that none of the doctors could heal took him.
Before he passed, father mentioned you a lot of times.

RAMA:

I am very sorry I was not there at the time of his passing. Your about to be a King and for that I must
congratulate you.

BHARATA:

Do not. For I have no desire to be a King. This is also why I have come to you, brother. I implore you
to come back to ayodhya and claim the throne that is rightfully yours.

RAMA:

But I may not seek Ayodhya ancient throne.

BHARATA:

Ahh. Then give your sandals and I would like to place it on the throne as a testimony to the people
that I am ruling in your name.

RAMA:

Then here it is Bharata!

BHARATA:

Thank you my brother!

NARRATOR:

One day Supernakha, the queen of the forest saw Rama.

---(Rama sit in a corner while Lakshmana stands elsewhere with a bow on their hand)---

SUPERNAKHA:

Who’s that charming, young man?


RAMA:

I am Dasaratha’s son, Rama lady, and you?

SUPERNAKHA:

Me, I am the Queen of this forest, Supernakha!

RAMA:

You’re the Queen of this forest? Then please, come in

SUPERNAKHA:

No! You come with me. All the comforts in the world are waiting for you!

RAMA:

I cannot go with you, I am vowing by a promise, You may go!

SUPERNAKHA:

No! You shall be the King of this forest!

RAMA:

No! Look I don’t want to cause you any harm, so please leave!

SUPERNAKHA:

You are a fool Rama! Now I will make you my slave. HAHAHA

LAKSHMANA:

Stop!

SUPERNAKHA:

AHAH! Two charming young men!

--(Sita entered)—

SITA:

What’s the problem my lord?

SUPERNAKHA:

Ooh. I see, so this is why you have refuse me, Rama! Now I will kill her!

---(Going to attack Sita)---

LAKSHMANA:
Look, we don’t kill women and children so…

---(Lakshmana cuts the nose of Supernakha)---

SUPERNAKHA: --(Crying)—

You fools! You shall be punish, punish for this!

NARRATOR:

Supernakha goes to the kingdom of his brother Ravana and there she told what happened.

RAVANA:

Do not worry my sister, we will take your revenge and I assure you that it will be……. so sweet!
HAHAHA

NARRATOR:

Ravana devises a plan. He send a magical golden deer which Sita desire.

SITA: --(watching the deer)—

What a beautiful deer!

RAMA:

It is very beautiful!

SITA:

My lord please catch it for me! If it stays with me I will be very happy.

LAKSHMANA:

AHAH! What a beautiful deer!

RAMA:

Lakshmana, I will come with it

NARRATOR:

Rama come with the deer but when it is catch……..

--(deer shouting)—

SITA:

It sounds like your brother needs help! I think he struggle to bring the deer right now!

LAKSHMANA:

Don’t worry! Please go inside.


--(the deer shouting again)—

SITA:

Look your brother is in trouble right now and you said there is nothing to worry! Go! Go now and
help Rama.

NARRATOR:

Lakshmana decided to go and help Rama.

LAKSHMANA:

Before I go I must secure your safety first.

--(draw a circle to the hut)—

Promise me whatever happened you will not crossed this line. Okay?

NARRATOR:

As Lakshmana go to help Rama, Ravana who can change his shape appears as a holy man

RAVANA:

Please gives some alms

SITA: --(NODS)—

RAVANA:

God bless you

--(tries to enter the hut but he cannot)--

--(thinking)…

SITA:

Please come here and accept this offering

RAVANA:

I am an acidic my child, even the shadows of houses absolutely forbidden for me, so you must come
here or else I leave but remember God will never forgive you!

SITA:

Ohh please don’t live, ohh sage

--(crossed the line)—


RAVANA: --(grabs Sita)--HAHAHA Sita!

SITA:

Who are you and how do you know my name?

RAVANA:

I am Ravana, the King of Lanka. The Supernakha’s brother who’s nose you people had cut off! This
will be my sweet revenge! And now you will become my queen my beautiful one HAHA!

NARRATOR:

Ravana abducted Sita and carries her to his kingdom in Lanka. As Lakshmana and Rama return to the
hut, Sita was not there. They look for her everywhere but she was nowhere to be found.

In searching for SIta a band of monkeys offers to help them find SIta.

MONKEY 1:

Lanka is a hundred miles from here how do we reach there?

HANUMAN:

Do not worry, I can fly miles from here! Friends, we shall fulfill Lord Rama’s wish.

--(Hanuman flies to Lanka)—

NARRATOR:

Hanuman reach Lanka and there he finds Sita, comfort’ her and tells that Rama will come soon to
save her from the evil Ravana.

HENCHMEN 1:

My Lord! A monkey man is creating a quiet mess to the garden.

RAVANA:

Go! Bring that stupid monkey here!

NARRATOR:

Hanuman was catch by Ravana and put fire on his tail to be drug on all the town, but Hanuman
escape and set fire to all Lanka.

They build a causeway from the tip of India to Lanka and cross over Lanka.

MONKEY 2:

I have come with a message on behalf of Lord Rama. Return Sita!

RAVANA:
I will not. Go and tell your Lord Rama to face Lord Ravana!

I insist war!

MONKEY 2:

You cannot defeat our Lord Rama.

--(Going to Rama)—

MONKEY 2:

My Lord that arrogant Ravana insist a war!

RAMA:

I will fight Ravana and bring back my beloved Sita!

NARRATOR:

Rama and his monkey army fight against Ravana’s allies.

MONKEY ARMY:

WOOOH! WOOOH! WOOOH!

--(fighting the enemy)—

NARRATOR:

Rama and Ravana finally face.

--(Rama fights Ravana)----(Ravana was defeated)--

Rama free’s Sita. After Sita proves her purity they returned to Ayodhya where Rama become King.

KAIKEYI:

Be the greatest King Rama

--(Put Crown on Rama)—
