The printing method

o Dot matrix printers Create images by striking a ribbon against a piece of paper with pins. Typically, the
print head has 9 or 24 pins. As dots are apparent upon closer study, the photos are relatively of poor
quality. While being less expensive than other varieties, low-end devices are slow and noisy (speed
varies with price).

o Ink jet printers "spray" small ink droplets onto paper to create images. With so many tiny dots, they
provide reasonably decent image quality and are undetectable even when seen closely. Compared to
dot matrix printers, they are relatively quiet, and the majority can print in color.
