Taman Sukasada Ujung (Ujung Water Palace)

Location :
Banjar Ujung, Tumbu Village, Karangasem sub-district, Karangasem, Bali.
This park is located about 5 km to the southeast of Amlapura central city. And from I Gusti Ngurah Rai
Airport around 77 km, it takes about 1 hour 49 minutes. Moreover, the location can be accessed on a
digital map. And during the Dutch Indies period this place was known as Water palace.
Fyi : if you want to visit Karangasem using public transportation from Ngurah Rai Airport, you can
take the Trans Sarbagita bus heading for Nusa Dua-Batubulan. From Batubulan, Gianyar, you can take
public transportation in the form of a minibus to Karangasem. Or the simple one, you can get the
transportation in Grabb online application.

Ticket Fee :
The opening hours of Ujung Water Palace are every Monday- Saturday, from 8 a.m until 5 p.m.
The price of admission to Ujung Water Palace has a different prices.

History :
Talk about this place, this place has a great history that covers it.
This place, Ujung Water Palace known as Taman Sukasada Ujung was built by the king of Karangasem
I Gusti Bagus Jelantik, who had the title Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. Initialy this garden
was a pond used as a disposal site for those with black magic. However, in 1909 the king of
Karangasem had ordered his two Dutch architects (van de hentz and the chinese architect Loto Ang) to
develop this place into a resting place for the king and the royal family.
As well as being a place to meditate and entertain royal guests. Not only that, the conctruction also
involved architects from Bali (undagi = Balinese traditional architect) especially from the karangasem
kingdom. Finally, all the processes of both conctruction and renovation were completed in 1921. In
1937, Taman Ujung Karangasem was inaugurated with a marble inscription inscribed with scripts in
Latin and Balinese script and two languages, Malay and Balinese.

Building Area :
1. Resting Room (Bale Giri or Bale Kambang)
To go to that building we can use the bridge. Precisely located on the edge of the south and nort.

As you can see, this bridge looks so great with its 6 gates ornament which are the symbol of the
karangasem kingdom.
This building used to serve as a resting place of the king of Karangasem. As you can see, this
building has a unique architectural combined between European architectural concepts and
Balinese architertural concepts. There are colorful glass as a characteristic of European
architectural. We can see another uniqueness from this building is in the king’s resting room. From
this/that room we can see the tunjung flower pond and also the lotus flowers from behind the
window.
2. Bale Kapal
Here there are stairs used to go up to the next instagramable spot area. There we can see 3 natural
beauties of Bali in one place.
Alright, now we are already on the top area of Ujung Water Palace. Precisely at a gate or open
pillar building called bale Kapal. Looks over there, we can see 3 different views of nature. that is
Ujung Water Palace, that is a beautiful beaches and a green hill called bisbis hill.
