Evangelism

This book is about evangelism, but more than that, it’s also about developing a culture of
evangelism. We need to acknowledge that God is sovereign and can do as he wills to bring people to
himself.

Also, reading this book I’ve understood that as important at it is to be light inside the church,
is more important to be even lighter outside it. When we set out to practice evangelism, we must
start with biblical foundation. We must know how to inform how we share our faith rather than
starting by looking for a way to gain maximum impact. It’s enough if only one person is coming to
God from our evangelism, we need to be honest and the most powerful it’s the way how God
worked in our lives.

Evangelism is teaching the gospel (the message from God that leads us to salvation) with the
aim (hope, desire, goal) to persuade (convince, convert). This doesn’t mean that we persuade with
manipulation or forcing people to come to God. Jesus was engaging, but he never entertained, there
is a huge difference, one that is lost on the modern church. We don’t need to entertain people to
present the message from God.

Being able to teach the gospel benefits our spiritual lives as it makes sure we are living
according to gospel themes; we will never be able to teach the gospel if our life is not according with
it.

The hope in evangelism is that we step ourselves in gospel truth and gospel living, and so
apply ourselves to gospel study, that the gospel can’t help but come out of us.

Evangelize with friends is one of the good and easy things to do, to spread the message of
God with people who have the same belief like you, but since we believe in the church as the engine
of evangelism, we need to develop culture of evangelism in our local churches, too. Is important for
everyone coming in our church to feel the presence of God not only from the message but also from
people who are there. It’s true that the most people come to faith through the influence of family
members or friends, be aware who is near you and try to bring him to Jesus.

Evangelism often feels like pushing a ball uphill. But when I’m with people whose motivation
for evangelism springs from a love for Jesus, the perception of evangelism changes, as I said before is
easy to spread God’s message with people with the same beliefs.

If someone come to Jesus, please make sure that you and the church are giving him the
support that he needs, new believers have the zeal but often they need guidance and someone to
assure them that they are on the right path.

If you are part of a healthy church that has a culture of evangelism, you are part of the
greatest way of evangelism ever known. This is how important a church culture is, and to know that
we are not alone in this, the church is with us, supports us and help us.

Church members must understand the priorities the apostles guarded. Though there are
many important things the church body can do – as important as feeding widows – nothing should
subvert the primary calling of the church: to preach the Word. Members and pastors alike should
come alongside one another and protect the unique and primary calling of the church.
I’ve learned that I need to be intentional in evangelism: follow Christ’s lead, He is the
conductor of our words, also we trust God to do something bigger than what I see with my eyes or
say with my words. Our goal is to share, pray and take opportunities as they come. We can challenge
people to come to faith, but there are no instructions in the New Testament for a sinner’s prayer.
We trust God to bring sinners to repentance. Our responsibility is to be faithful witnesses – together.
Churches must treat the gospel as a way of life. Gospel Centrality is crucial to a culture of
evangelism. But trying to live a moral life is impossible. Living a gospel life is a gift from God. It’s
important to prepare to share out faith. But the goal is not to prepare – it is to find ourselves in
conversations with others where we are speaking the very words of life.

We must deliver the message regardless of the discomfort produces, effort required, and
shame endured. Ambassadors exist to deliver messages. So we shout out, “be reconciled to God”.
We may not feel like representatives of the kingdom of God, but that is what we are. It is how we
are seen in the spiritual realms, and it’s an astounding truth. The Bible calls us to remember those
who have been brave and faithful and follow their example.

God is working through us as we share our faith – even if we don’t see it this side of heaven.
Take hope, even amid discouragement. Know that God is at work through and in you. You can deend
on him. Don’t be tempted to quit.
