due to Latest Technologies in the New Age Organizations

Abstract

Innovation management, innovation diffusion, knowledge management, knowledge transfer and new
age organizations are now becoming important and popular. The study has identified a few challenges
relating to new age organizations. These challenges are relating to adaptability, automation, reduced
manpower requirements and reduced job opportunities. However, there is a need to have a positive
approach towards new age organizations and prepare for the challenges.

Introduction

The world is evolving into a digital world due to fast spreading internet. The New Age organizations are
the organizations which are digital organizations and use latest technologies for e-commerce,
communication and day to day business. These organizations are now thriving due to rising internet
penetration and rising internet-usage. The new age organizations are facing new set of challenges and
opportunities.

We have seen a sharp rise in demand for new age organizations.

Innovation Management

Innovation refers to new product or new solution or new services or new ways of doing something.
Innovations help in creating better solutions. Innovations are now becoming more and more popular
because people are willing to change and they easily adopt new products and new services. New
products appear and old products disappear. Innovations are replacing our product inventory. We have
to keep updating with technologies due to fast pace of innovations. Every company is encouraging
innovations. Innovations are very beneficial due to many reasons like reduction in costs, reduction in
operational expenditure, improved technology absorption, improved efficiency etc. However, there are
many challenges also.

Innovation diffusion refers to creating such practices which help in spreading innovations. It will help in
creating better organizations thorugh innovations and emphasis on creative processes. Scholars from
different fields have studied innovation and found it to be very useful in organizational development.
Scholars and researchers include researchers from diverse fields such as management, engineering,
economics and political science (Jones and Saad, 2003). Such diversity has benefitted the innovation
literatures. Based on researches, attention has been paid to product innovation, such as the process of
product innovation adoption (Rogers, 2003), the organisational context for product innovation (Burns
and Stalker, 1961, Van de Ven, 1986), the relations between product innovation process and marketing
strategy (Robertson, 1967), the relations between the product innovator and the financial performance
(Capon, et. al., 1992) and the cost of product innovations (Mansfield and Rapoport, 1975). A large
number of studies on product innovations and services innovations have contributed to the field of
study.

Knowledge Management

Knowledge management refers to creating, documenting, sharing and archiving the knowledge and best
practices for future reference. Knowledge should be preserved and shared. There is a need to create
proper system for knowledge management. Knowledge Transfer (KT) refers to systematic process to
transfer knowledge to new group of employees and stakeholders so that the knowledge remains in
proper hands and doesn’t disappear. This is a very important process.

Challenges in the new age organizations

We conducted a survey among the people about new age organizations. Fifty persons were randomly
selected and interviewed about the impact of new age organizations on their lives and the challenges
that they face. The findings are discussed here : -

a. Employee turnover is increased due to new technologies and new age organizations
b. Automation may wipe out jobs for many people
c. Technologies are creating new type of hurdles like people have to keep updated with the
technologies
d. It is not very easy for elderly people to learn and adopt latest technologies
e. Cyber crimes are increasing
f. New age organizations are replacing the need of traditional organizations and institutions, which
may create problem of survival for many
g. Technologies have many harmful impact on the society. The children are getting addicted to
games, the youth are not doing any physical work.The impact of the new technologies is not a
very positive impact on the society. The society is getting less happier due to new age
organizations.

Discussions and Conclusions

Everything has positive and negative impact. New age organizations offer many advantages like speed,
reach, scale etc. however, there are challenges also. These challenges will be solved through new
innovations. The challenges should not stop us from progressing. There is a need to train and guide the
youth about new age organizations and new technologies. There are possibilities of misuse of new
technologies, but there is a need to create right set of protocols and create protective measures to
protect the elderly and the children from the new technologies. It is important to protect the children
and support the elderly people.
