2 DAC Exercise session 2

Session two is about the conversion of analog to digital signals, referring to the slides in section
DAC 3 “ 3. Baseband communication”, subsection “3.2 From analog to digital”, and referring to
chapter 3 of the book of Couch.

These are the exercises treated in session 2:

Exercises 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 3.8, 3.9, 3.11 – exercise numbers refer to edition 8 of the book of
Couch
(These exercise numbers correspond to numbers 3.3, 3.4, 3.7, 3.8 and 3.10 in edition 7 of the
book. Exercise 3.9 and 3.11 in ed. 8 use slightly different numbers than 3.8 and 3.10 in ed. 7.)

2-1 Exercises: questions

! The corresponding exercise in edition 7 (number 3.8) uses bandwidth= 100 Hz, and amplitude
range -10 V to + 10 V. The solution below is the one with 100 Hz and -10 V to +10 V

! The corresponding exercise in edition 7 (number 3.10) uses bandwidth 4.2 MHz and peak-
signal to noise ratio of 55 dB. The solution below is the one with 4.2 MHz and 55 dB.
