1. Matthew 5:44 - “You have heard that it was said, Love your neighbor and hate your enemy. ..He said we should
love others and that means even loving those who are unkind to us as well as our friends.
2. Matthew 6:19 - “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth. and rust doth corrupt, and where
thieves break through and steal. The battle between good and evil, heaven and the world, it would be Matthew 6:19-
21. The reference to "treasures on earth".
3. Matthew 7: 3-5 - “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank
in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove
the speck from your brother’s eye. The meaning of this verse is fairly clear, it is an attack on the hypocrites who
attack others for their small flaws while ignoring their own massive ones. Those who judge others, but do not
evaluate themselves.
4. Matthew 8: 19-20 - 19 Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you
go.” 20 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head”. This
expression occurs about 80 times in the Gospels. Jesus used it to refer to himself, evidently emphasizing that he was
truly human, born from a woman, and that he was a fitting human counterpart to Adam, having the power to redeem
humankind from sin and death.
5. Matthew 8: 27-31- As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son
of David!” 28 When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am
able to do this? “Yes, Lord,” they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be
done to you”; 30 and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.” 31 But
they went out and spread the news about him all over that region. We live by faith and not by our sight but the truth
is we can be blind to many things in our lives.
