PRELIM ACTIVITY 2

WATCH THE MOVIE LADDER 49 AND MAKE YOUR OWN REFLECTION/REACTION PAPER IN RELATION
TO THE MOVIE.

"Ladder 49" is a gripping and emotional film that tells the story of a group of firefighters and the dangers
and sacrifices they face every day. The movie offers a powerful tribute to firefighters and their families,
highlighting the courage, camaraderie, and devotion to duty that defines their profession.

The film follows the career of Jack a Baltimore firefighter who joins a local fire station and quickly earns
the respect of his colleagues. The movie shows how the firefighters work together to rescue people
from burning buildings, putting their own lives on the line to save others. The scenes portray the fires
are intense and realistic even though it is an old film, and I was able to feel the danger and chaos that
the firefighters face.

One of the strengths of the movie is its portrayal of the close bond between firefighters. They rely on
each other for their safety and trust each other with their lives. This camaraderie is demonstrated
through the many humorous and touching scenes that show the firefighters interacting with each other
both on and off the job. The movie also goes through into the personal lives of the firefighters, showing
the impact that their dangerous job has on their families and loved ones.

The heart of the movie, however, is the relationship between Jack and his mentor, Chief Mike. He is a
veteran firefighter who takes Jack under his wing and teaches him the ropes. The two men develop a
deep bond, and the movie shows how Mike becomes a father figure to Jack, guiding him through both
the triumphs and tragedies of his career.

The film takes a turn when Jack becomes trapped in a burning building, and the rest of the movie
focuses on the efforts of his fellow firefighters to rescue him. The tension is intense as the firefighters
struggle to save their colleague, and with that I was left wondering if Jack will make it out alive. The
movie does an excellent job of portraying the fear and desperation of the firefighters as they try to save
their friend.

Overall, "Ladder 49" is a powerful and moving film that pays tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of
firefighters. The performances by the actors are excellent, and the movie is well-directed, with stunning
cinematography and intense action scenes. The film's message of brotherhood and courage is universal,
and it is a must-see for anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of the sacrifices made by
firefighters in their service to their communities.
