    A landslide in Malingoan village, Maharashtra, India buried 140 people on July 30, 2014 after heavy rainfall weakened the soil on a hill slope. Soil samples from the bottom, middle, and top of affected hill slope sections were analyzed to determine the soil properties and slope stability. Cho (2014) performed probabilistic slope stability and seepage analyses to determine how spatial variability in soil properties impacted the slope stability and groundwater seepage. The hill slope was divided into four zones, and a cross section identified three critical zones where the landslide occurred and where slope gradient was studied.
