▪ Founder of Buddhism is known as Gautam Buddha.


▪ His real name was Siddhartha.

▪ Gautam Buddha has other names as, Sakya Muni, Light of
Asia, etc.
▪ He was known as Sakya Muni because he was from the
Sakya Gana and he became a Muni. That’s why he was
called Sakya+Muni= Sakya Muni

▪ Gautam Buddha was born at, Lumbini(Kapilvastu),Nepal in
563 B.C.
▪ He died at Kushinagar, India in 483 B.C.
▪ The process of his death is known as “Mahaparnirvana”.
