1. Define What is essay?


 According to britanica essay, an analytic, interpretative, or critical literary composition usually much
shorter and less systematic and formal than a dissertation or thesis and usually dealing with its
subject from a limited and often personal point of view.
 Choosing the name essai to emphasize that his compositions were attempts or endeavours, a groping
toward the expression of his personal thoughts and experiences

2. Define the 8 kinds of essay

A. Reflective Essay
- Reflective writing is a form of creative writing where you examine an experience or situation
through self-reflection. Through the course of creating the reflective paper, you describe insights that
you gained or express your views on some experience. Reflective essays are typically personal
writings about an experience, but they can be made up as well.

B. Narrative essay
- A narrative essay is a type of essay that has a single motif, or a central point, around which the
whole narrative revolves. All incidents, happenings, and characters revolve around a single motif
presented in the narrative. A narrative essay is similar to a simple five-paragraph essay, in that it has the
same format. It is only different in that it is a narrative, having characters, incidents, and dialogues .

C. Descriptive essay
- A descriptive essay, as the name implies, is a form of essay that describes something. In this genre,
students are assigned the task of describing objects, things, places, experiences, persons, and situations.
The students use sensory information to enable readers to use their five senses of touch, taste, smell,
hearing, and sight to understand the topic of the essay.

D. Biographical essay
- A biographical essay is a written composition describing the life and times of a particular individual. In
general there are two primary types. The first is an academic report or essay used to paint a picture of a
historical figure or person of some importance to the writer.

E. Nature essay
- An essay on nature pays tribute to the inanimate and animate environment surrounding us that have
evolved over billions of years and from which our own species emerged. Relevant topics include nature
exploration, ecology studies, the impact of our unsustainable economic model on nature, the
environmental problems resulting from this, ways to achieve harmony with nature in modern times,
nature as depicted in art. Ignoring these aspects can unleash true calamity, as we already witness
nowadays with climate change or the massive death of insects, essential for pollination. Essays on nature
might be based on factual evidence or can be more subjective, for instance, when a personal interpretation
or view is required – review the samples below for examples of both.

F. Critical essay
- Contrary to the literal name of “critical,” this type of essay is not only an interpretation, but also an
evaluation of a literary piece. It is written for a specific audience, who are academically mature enough to
understand the points raised in such essays. A literary essay could revolve around major
motifs, themes, literary devices and terms, directions, meanings, and above all – structure of a literary
piece.

G. Perdiocal essay
- A periodical essay is a type of writing that is issued on a regular basis as a part of a series in editions
such as journals, magazines, newspapers or comic books. It is typically published daily, weekly, monthly
or quarterly and is referenced by volume and issue.

- Didacticism is a term that refers to a particular philosophy in art and literature that emphasizes the
