THE CREATION OF THE WORLD –
“The Greeks did not believe that the gods created the universe. It was the other way
about: the universe created the gods. Before there were gods heaven and earth had
been formed. They were the first parents. The Titans were their children, and the
gods were their grandchildren.”
Discuss the Greek Gods family tree and how the world was created.

 Chaos – Is the mythological void state preceding the creation of the universe (the
cosmos).
 Primordial Parents – are the first generation of gods goddesses. These ditties
represented the fundamental forces and physical foundation of the world and were
generally not actively worshipped as they for the most part was not given human
characteristics.
 Titans – They were the pre-Olympian gods. They were the twelve children of the
primordial parents URANUS and GAIA.
 Olympians – Are the major deities of the Greek pantheon. They were called
Olympians because, according to tradition they resided on Mount Olympus
