The software structure
• Several types of project planning software exists:
• However, Microsoft is the most commonly used windows based
project planning programme
• Ribbon and Tabs are the key functions that perform most of what you
intend to achieve in MS Project
• Default Ribbon has seven Tabs. They are File, Task, Resource, Report
Project, View, and Acrobat
• The variable Format depends on the view
Ribbon and Tabs
• File
• Options command
• Within this command you can customise and initialise your project the way you want to
present it.
• With time you may well develop a preferential style of operation.

• Schedule
• Changing dates, durations and other functions that will help you when designing you plan.

How do you get going?
• Open up a blank project
• Go to file; option; schedule
• Change the Fiscal year, duration, working time etc.
• Accept changes by clicking on OK
• Let’s input three activities (i.e. task)
