Studio
In house 74 c there is a studio. Here you can give free rein to your creati-
vity with others and with the help of a freelance artist.
Construction noise
Since some new buildings are being built in the StuSie at the moment,
there may be construction noise during the day during the week.
Consultations
If you have problems with your studies or questions about the meaning of
being, contact the Service Center or the corresponding counseling centers
of the Studierendenwerk. The staff of the Studierendenwerk's info store in
Basler Straße 2 or the telephone number (0761) 21 01-200 will tell you
who to contact. The Service Point, the administration and the showcase in
the community center are also the first places to go.
Flowerbeds
The StuSie has its own small garden where you can grow vegetables, for
example. If you are interested, just write an email to stusi.beete@gmail.-
com.
Print
You can print data from a USB stick or from the internet at the Service
Point. The best way is to use PDF files.
Move in
Check the inventory list in your closet for completeness right away. You
have two weeks to report online via the housing portal, if something is
missing. Otherwise you have to pay for the lack yourself. In addition, you
must register with the City of Freiburg within the first two weeks at the Re-
sidents' Registration Office at Fehrenbachallee 12 (line 1 to Rathaus am
Stühlinger). Don't forget to take the certificate of residence from the
SWFR with you.
(Note: For moving in and out, the information from SWFR is authoritative).
If you want to buy a good used bike, check out our bike repair shop.
7 http://www.studentensiedlung.de
Service-Point (House 36): Mon,Wed,Fri,Sun 7-21pm
There are also bike racks at houses 32, 42, 74b, 28 and 48 where you can
find tools for minor repairs.
Barbecue
Barbecuing is strictly forbidden on the balconies of the StuSie! We have a
barbecue area next to house 36. Grills, charcoal and other barbecue ac-
cessories can be rented at the Service Point.

Operating instructions
The use of the Internet access is deliberately designed to be simple and
normally works "plug and play". In case of problems due to settings on
your computer, you will find below a short instruction how to set up your
computer in order to use the internet access.
Setting option
You can use the high-speed Internet access with any device that has an
Ethernet network card. The device must generally be configured for the
TCP/IP Internet protocol. If no connection is established, please set the IP
address to automatic/DHCP mode in the TCP/IP menu.
Telephony
A telephone connection is still part of the standard equipment of every
home. The Hotzone offers Internet telephony for this purpose. You can
request this inexpensive connection on the page http://www.hotzone.de.
12
Television
Using the television service is very simple. Install the Cloudcast app
(http://www.hotzone.de/download) on your TV or computer. Register to be
able to use the entire television offer. The app offer you a wide selection of
different channels. If you want to use an older one, we recommend using
a set-top box. For more information on STBs, visit our website.
Of course you can also buy routers etc. from another provider.
Get to know
The best way to get to know new people is to use the many services offe-
red by StuSie e.V., especially the bar, the lounge and the tutorials. You
can also become active yourself and offer a tutorial or get involved as a
helper in our team. To offer a tutorial or to become a helper, simply contact
the International and Social Affairs Officer (soziales@studentensiedlun-
g.de).

Service-Point (House 36): Mon,Wed,Fri,Sun 7-21pm
Childcare
For all parents from the settlement, a trained educator with many years of
professional experience offers childcare. Children are cared for on week-
days between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. (or by appointment) in the specially
equipped rooms of House 60.
For more information, contact Christiane Celie Otto at:
christianecelie.o@gmail.com
Copying
Inexpensive and high-quality copies are available at the Service Point.
You can also have homework and theses bound there at student prices.
Study room
In the StuSie we have a study room that you can use. You can rent a coin
for it at the Service Point. Since there are only a limited number of coins,
you may be on a waiting list.
(Currently there is a Corona test center there).
14
General meeting
Members of StuSie e.V. elect the officers of the association from their
ranks once a year at the general meeting. These form the presidium (sett-
lement council). At the general meeting (plenary meeting) the speakers
and the board give an account of their department and the association is
presented. Then planned actions can be discussed.
The general meeting is held annually around November. Please pay atten-
tion to the posted invitations and come to the meeting!

Service-Point (House 36): Mon,Wed,Fri,Sun 7-21pm
One for bands, four rooms with piano, one room with a grand piano and
one room is empty (for wind instruments, strings ...). You can get a key for
a fee and a deposit at the Service Point.
Night rest
Also in the whole StuSie there is night rest from 22 - 6 o'clock.
Noise caused by loud music, parties etc. should be avoided.
Otherwise, the security service may show up at your place.
Since the StuSie is surrounded by private residents and there are also
students who want to sleep, we ask you to be considerate of this.
Emergency
The emergency room of the University Hospital Freiburg is located in the
Sir-Hans-A.-Krebs-Straße. Experienced doctors of various specialties
work there around the clock.
Packing station
There is a DHL packing station directly at the entrance to StuSie. To use it
you have to register online at DHL for the use of packing stations.
Otherwise you can find a post office in Betzenhausen. To get there, take
the streetcar in the direction of Landwasser one stop further.
16
Parking lot
If you don't always want to rely on the often unreliable parking lots around
the settlement, you can rent a parking lot cheaply on a monthly basis.
There are also some garages.
For this, contact the dormitory administration of SWFR, at Basler Straße
2.
Presidium - Settlement Council
"Presidium" is the statutory word for the Settlement Council. Here the af-
fairs around the settlement and the offers and goals of the association are
organized and discussed.
The Presidium (the Settlement Council) consists of up to 15 elected offi-
cers. During the semester, the meeting of the settlement council takes
place every 2nd Monday at 8 p.m. c.t. in the Gemeinschaftshaus 36, to
which you are always welcome. Further information is also available on
our website www.studentensiedlung.de, as well as under "StuSie e.V.".
The StuSie e.V. organizes tutorials and shapes the cultural and social life
in the settlement. It manages and distributes the income from the facilities
fairly to the non-profit areas.
Hall
The big parties of the StuSie take place in the big hall in house 36. Also
the legendary semester opening party. Don't miss this party!
In the hall there are also offers e.g. table tennis, Afro-Dance and some
tutorials. You can find more information in your StuSie Lounge, the pro-
gram booklet or in the calendar of events.

Sansibar
The SansiBar is a small vaulted cellar in the basement of house 36, which
can be rented at the Service Point for private parties and thus solves the
space and noise problem at flat-sharing parties. You can find more infor-
mation at the end of this booklet.
Service Point - House 36
Opening hours:
The Service Point is THE information center of StuSie e.V. Here you can
find out everything there is to know about the student settlement.
We give advice on minor problems or know the right contact person and
keep lost property.
You can also top up your Unicard with your EC card.
At the Service Point you can borrow (almost) everything your heart desi-
res.
If you need to make a quick copy of your seminar paper or lecture for the
next day, you can do it at the Service Point:
No problem, with us you can copy, print, bind, but also laminate and
what else you can do with paper.
You want to throw a party, but you don't feel like rearranging your flat the
next day? The SansiBar in the community center is the solution. Just
come by and reserve your desired date. Then nothing will stand in the way
of your party for a maximum of 50 people.

Security service - Eisenkolb
The security service Eisenkolb is also on the road at night in StuSie.
If they are not there, they will come and help you as soon as you inform
them.
For example, if it gets too noisy in the StuSie at night (balcony parties
etc.), you can call the Eisenkolb company. They will come by and take
care of it.
Sports eld
The sports field is located in the middle of the settlement, near community
house 36. There you will find a beach volleyball court as well as an artifi-
cial turf soccer field, a table tennis table and basketball hoops.
At house 46 there are built up slacklines and a fitness frame.
In addition, there is a table tennis table and a basketball hoop in front of
house 30. StuSie e.V. offers sports tutoring and you can borrow balls, ta-
ble tennis bats or badminton sets for free at the Service Point.
Language courses
You speak Arabic, Swahili or Italian? Or any other language? Then offer a
language course! Not only will you be spreading a beautiful language, but
you can also get a housing extension. If you would like to offer a language
course, please contact the International and Social Affairs Officer
(soziales@studentensiedlung.de).

StuSieCard - Membership Card
With the StuSie membership card you can use all the facilities of the as-
sociation and you get discounted admission to the parties. You can get it
by filling out a membership application form (available in the StuSie
Lounge) and handing it in there.
The membership is free of charge for residents of the StuSie and wi-
thout further obligations. It does not renew automatically every se-
mester. So you have to pick up a new one for each semester.
StuSie e.V.
The StuSie e.V. is the association that is responsible for a lot of things
here. Without it, there would be no StuSie-ABC, for example. It has set up
the Service Point and provided a wide range of services, it makes it possi-
ble to use the fitness and music rooms, the two bars and tries to offer as
many tutorials as possible so that it doesn't get boring here.
In short, the association takes care of everything that makes life here in
the settlement special. In order to keep it that way, we depend on many
helpers who would like to contribute to the fact that it continues to be so
diverse!
Briefly as background: The StuSie e.V. is a non-profit association that or-
ganizes, manages and shapes life in the settlement. Every resident can
become a member. The settlement council consists of up to 15 members,
who are in charge of certain areas (e.g. music, sports ...) in the form of
units.
Meetings of the settlement council take place every 2nd Monday at 8 p.m.
c.t. in the community house 36. Interested StuSieans are always welco-
me!
So, if you want to help or have good ideas:
Contact us (vorstand@studentensiedlung.de), just come by on Mon-
days (the Service Point knows when the next meeting is) or talk to us!
22
Tutorates
Tutorates are recreational events offered in the settlement. You can find a
list of all current tutorates in house 36 or on our homepage. They are or-
ganized by residents for residents.
If you have a good idea yourself: New tutors are always wanted! The Stu-
Sie e.V. supports committed people who want to organize a tutorial with
rooms, material and advertising. Just get in touch with the respective tu-
tors.
Subletting
If you want to sublet your room to another student - for the purpose of a
vacation semester, study abroad, internship, etc. - you can do so. Howe-
ver, you have to notify the dormitory administration at least one month in
advance. You can find a form for this on the SWFR website.

Service-Point (House 36): Mon,Wed,Fri,Sun 7-21pm
Insurances
Settlement residents are insured through the Student Union as follows:
1. household insurance
2. wardrobe and bicycle insurance
3. liability insurance
4. accident insurance
Please remember to lock your room door and close the window when you
sleep or leave your room. The insurance will only pay if you have secured
your room well.
If you have a specific insurance claim, please contact the SWFR Social
Counseling Service.
Administration
The administration of the student residence is the responsibility of the
Studierendenwerk Freiburg (Basler Straße 2). It is also your landlord. But
also here in house 20 there are contact persons for the questions that oc-
cupy the residents of the housing estate.
The SWFR not only takes care of the applications of new residents, those
moving out, or other administrative questions. The SWFR has a large
number of facilities of a social nature and services in Basel Street, such as
social counseling, financial counseling and help with very personal pro-
blems.
See also www.swfr.de.

If you have Autoload, you can also use it to charge your card at the wa-
shroom terminals.

Mensa guest card or a UB or PH card.
You can also recharge your card at the ServicePoint in building 36.

Extension of residence time

case in every student dormitory in Freiburg by SWFR. The dormitory ad-
ministration decides on applications for an extension of the period of resi-
dence.
An application can be made due to graduation in the coming semester,
interim tenancy due to studies, or proof of social and community involve-
ment in the settlement or the StuSie e.V., or other valid reasons.
