University Housing Hiring Staff
To whom it may concern:
I am applying for the Community Mentor position with the CLAS Residential College. I
was informed of this position through advertisement in my current resident hall and
through my current Community Mentor, Caitlan Rocha. I am very excited about the
possibilities this position holds, and feel that my education, experience and involvement
make me a well-qualified applicant.
I am currently a full-time History (Secondary Education) student on the Tempe location of
Arizona State University. I am on track to graduate in May of 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts
in History (Secondary Education). I am also considering a minor in Business.
In addition to being an actively involved student in high school, I participated in several
sports and held leadership roles in both football and lacrosse as Co-Captain. I believe my
time as Co-Captain for both sports allowed me the ability to lead an amazing group of
young men and serve as a mentor both on and off the field. This was the first time I began
to realize my leadership capability and saw my skills as a student leader.
In alignment with this employment opportunity, I have proven myself as a leader and
dedicated worker in my previous jobs and extra-curricular activities. I also hope to one day
be a History teacher. While I have yet to take on any leadership roles on campus this
semester, I pride myself on being an active member of my community, and have done well
to connect with my peers throughout the building, and even CLAS and university-wide. I
have attended many different events and activities on campus, and have assisted my
current Community Mentor in advertising for programs and encouraging other residents to
attend.
Although I have limited experience as a student leader at ASU, I feel the opportunity
would be the first step toward a path to success in which I can encourage those around me
to reach their full-potential, while in the meantime, helping myself stay active and involved
in my university.
Thank you for taking the time to review my application. I look forward to speaking with
you in the future to discuss your position and my qualifications. If you have any questions,
please feel free to reach me at 408-421-0298 or email me at tzhou19@asu.edu
