1-2 (Time Limit: 7 minutes) Al and Bill eat cook-
ies. Al eats one every 12 minutes. Bill eats
one every 16 minutes. In 96 minutes, how
many cookies will Al and Bill eat in total?
1-3 (Time Limit: 7 minutes) The age of each
math club member is a whole number from
11 to 19 inclusive. If the members’ ages has
a product of 959 310, what is their sum?
1-4 (Time Limit: 7 minutes) The average age of 5
people in a room is 30. After an 18-year-old
person leaves the room, what is the average
age of the 4 people that remain?
1-5 (Time Limit: 7 minutes) What is the least
number greater than 104 divisible by 101
and 104?
1-6 (Time Limit: 7 minutes) On each of Amy’s 5
cards is written 1 of 5 consecutive positive
odd numbers whose sum is 65, what’s the
middle number?
1-7 (Time Limit: 7 minutes) Simplify the sum
(1999-1) + (1998-2) + (1997-3) + . . . +
(1001-999) + 1000?

2-1 (Time Limit: 7 minutes) A box contains equal
numbers of red and blue balls. If the num-
ber of red balls is doubled and the number
of blue balls is halved, there would be 6
more red balls than blue balls. How many
red and blue balls are in the box in total?
2-2 (Time Limit: 7 minutes) Each minute, Tom
washes 3 dishes and Bob washes 5. After
Tom washed dishes for 4 minutes, Bob join-
ed him. How many dishes did Bob wash by
the time they’d washed 44 dishes in total?
2-3 (Time Limit: 7 minutes) At 16, Michelangelo
was twice as old as Raphael. At 23, Michel-
angelo was half as old as Leonardo. When
Raphael was 6, how old was Leonardo?
2-4 (Time Limit: 7 minutes) Mov-
ing only right or upwards
along the grid lines shown,
in how many different ways
can one move from A to B?
2-5 (Time Limit: 7 minutes) How many different
two-digit numbers use two of the digits 4,
6, 8, and 9, but do not use both a 6 and a 9
in the same number?
2-6 (Time Limit: 7 minutes) I have 30 cards in
each of 10 colors. At least how many cards
must I give you to be sure I give you at
least 10 cards in each of 3 different colors?
2-7 (Time Limit: 7 minutes) After Al and Bob ran
6 races, Al led 4 to 2. If Bob never led in the
scoring, how many different scores repre-
sent a possible score that is between a 0 to 0
start and a 4 to 2 end?
