1 SCOPE OF THE STUDY

The scope of the study simply refers to build the sandwich panel board made
from agricultural waste. Rice straw and sawdust are used to make the particleboard and
damar as a binding to make the particle board. To achieve the standard of JIS A 5908,
acoustical properties, water absorption and density will be tested. The test will be conducted
at Furniture Technology Workshop in University Tun Hussein Onn. The standard that used
in this project is ISO 11654 2017 for acoustical panel and BS EN 332 for density test.

1.2 SUMMARY

From chapter 1, i t can conclude that the problem is agricultural

waste from factory like sawdust and rice straw will be burnt out and will
make air pollution. So, this project will recycle it and make it as a panel
board. Besides that, aim for this project is to build a particle board that
complies with International Standard Specification. Next, our scope of study
is the particle board will be tested for it physical and acoustic to achieve the
International Standard. Hence, the outcome that we expect is our particle
board will achieve JIS A 5908 (2003) or Japan Standard Association for
physical test while for acoustic test will achieved ISO 11654 (1997). In
chapter 2, we will show some literature review that we already research
based on our project. Agricultural waste can be recycle to make a building
materials. We will explain more about our background and expected
outcome that we want to achieve in this project.
