Objective and Scope ‘Te objective ofthis Spevification sto define Ficlabus cable specifications and conformance tests such that cables withthe required characteristics and passing the tests performed by the manufacturer can be registered and received the Foundation’s checkmark. ‘This will provide greater assurance to end users that their Fieldbus wiring systems are suitable for Fieldbus operation The scope ofthe cable specification includes: ‘© Compliance with the requirements stated inthe IEC 61 158-2: 2003 standard ‘© Requirements beyond thse ofthe siandatd that determine ifthe cable is it for its intended purpose of witing a fieldbus network, Therefore, some cables will meet the requirement ofthe Standard IEC 61158-2: 2003 but may not pass this Specifications requirements ‘The scope ofthe Tests apply to Type A cable with either a single shielded twisted wire pair or multiple twisted wite pais i Shielded pairs within a common cable jacket ivdually ‘The seope of these Tests doesnot include requirements for electromagnetic compatiblity, hazardous area or other safety considerations oF ‘issues no dizell relate fo the wiring of fieldbus network, 2. The shield shall be metalized polyester tape. A drain wire shall have resistance less than 51 Ohmvkm. If another shield construction method is used, the manufacturer shall provide assurance thatthe alternate method Is functionally equivalet tothe metalized polyester shield Ina malt-pair cable, each pairs individually shielded with an overall shield and all shields are isoated ftom eachother 4.8 — Wire-to-Shield Capacitance Unbalance ‘The difference in capacitance between one wire (*) and the shield and the other wire (-) and the shield sha average. A minimum of 30 m cable length shall be used to tect this parameter. 4.7 Wire Twists per Meter “There shall be 101 22 wire twists per meter for single or multi-pir cables, 4.8 Minimum Bend Radius ‘The minimum bend radius ofthe eable shall e specified. This must consider the specified cable temperature range and the possible los of shild coverage duc to bending 49 Jacket Resistance ‘The minimum resistance between the cable's sield and the metal structure the eable may be in or on, when a steady voltage of $00 V de ‘is applied for I eine, shall be 1 MOhn/330 meters. ‘@ Fieldbus Foundation 1994-2008 Pages F844 FS1.1 Fieldbus Specification Hi Cable Test Specification 410 — Connectorized Cable Cable with connectors installed by the mamufsctuer shall have the sume characteristics a the deserited in Sections 4,1 through 4.9. The diferenil capacitance is based on what can be reasonably expected under ordinary manufacturing practices 5.6 Wire Twists per Meter Wire wists are necessary for both electric and magnetic field noise rejection. This is based on common cable manufacturing practices 5.7 Temperature Specification Since FOUNDATION fieldbus is expected to operat in outdoor environments, the sated temperatre specification i thought tobe the ‘minimum required fr this 5.8 Cable Parameters Not Tested or Specified Signal propagation velocity, ‘Wire insulation colors are not specified and not tested but only suggested because of specific customer or use requirements Cable jacket colors and special cable characterises, such as cold temperature pull stength, ae not specified because no single speci rempl to have a single cable type raises the cost of eable for those uses © Fieldbus Foundation 1984-2008 Page 7 nc
