THE THROBBING OLD CITY

I have taken an example of bollywood movie name “Game” for what kind of
architectural style or lifestyle of people of Istanbul city that showed in that movie. I
choose “The throbbing old city” title for this short blurb because I want to tell about
the activeness of the old Istanbul city. In that movie, there are many cities that have
been showed, but I particularly choose Istanbul, Turkey. In this movie, the main
protectionist is Abhishek Bachchan, who is living in Istanbul, and in one scene,
some agents were following him and he started running in whole city. Thus we can
see many glimpse of the old Istanbul.

In that particular short scene of that movie, we can see some heritage Romanesque
architecture of Istanbul, accommodation of people, arrangement of that
city, arrangement of buildings as well as public spaces and also sloppy and narrow
road in between of city. We can also see one heritage mosque, its architecture as
well as its location in that city. In that scene of movie, we can see the time of early
morning, it may around 7:00 to 8:00 am. But still we can see the activeness and the
liveliness of that city in early morning too. People are going to their work, having
breakfast, mall and other public areas are also active. Even people are also in
mosque for their regional activity. We can also see some traditional work for which
they are famous for, for example someone is knitting and making mat in their
traditional style. Also, looking further in that scene, we can see top view or else we
can also say drone view, the traditional houses or buildings is too close and dense
that it shows the characteristic of old city. We can also see their roofing style and in
some houses there are small openings while some have big openings. We can see
that all houses that they located too close to each other are also arranged around
that mosque which I mentioned before. So from these we can predict that for them
mosque is center of their daily life as it is main focus of that and other houses or
buildings are arranged around mosque.
In this particular scene, I guess movie creator maybe want to show the lifestyle,
arrangement of city and also traditional architecture of that city as well.

At last, I want to add few points which I observe in that scene. I also see the
combination of Romanesque architecture and Islamic architecture (or else we can
say Ottoman architecture) in that old city. The possible reason of this combination
in Turkey is that Turkey was a part of Roman Empire and Islamic Empire in the past
and also in present, Turkey is a part of Asia and Europe-both continents, so because
of that we can see both type of traditional architecture in Istanbul city.
