I'm having a slight issue with my radio/speakers in my Challenger. Last weekend I took my car
into my dealer to have the battery cables replaced and the MyGig updated. no issues, out the
door in less than an hour. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I drove the car all
weekend and had the radio turned up and didn't notice anything. Yesterday after work I was
driving with a friend and we noticed that it sounded like all the sound was coming from the
forward speakers and sound wasn't as crisp as before. I went into the equalizer and it said it
was centered. I moved it towards the rear of the car and you can here the sound coming out
of the back speakers but it sounds weak. I messed with the settings for the bass mid and
treble as well and noticed that it doesn’t sound like my subwoofer is hitting either. BTW I do
have sound group II. I guess I'll be calling the dealer later to find out about this. Has anyone
had this issue before?

This "battery replacement" thing, correct me if i'm wrong... don't they just swap out the
ground cables for a thicker gauge wire? blue --> green

It is part of Evic personal settings. Make sure your speakers are set to Stereo or you will have
this exact behavior. I found out the hard way too.

I went into the EVIC personal settings but I didn't see any settings for the speakers. You don't
happen to have a picture do you?

I took the car to the dealership last night and they checked it over. They agree that it sounds
like a majority of the sound is coming from the front speakers but they didn't have any
answers. They flashed the MyGig and the amp but no change...

Well maybe evic is not the right word.

Here was my post, same exact thing:

http://www.challengertalk.com/forums/f5/rear-speakers-went-out-12483/

Not sure of your model and controls, but you need to get into the personal settings mode that
shows up on the dash by the speedo and the setting is in there for the speakers. If you can't
find it, refer back the the manual for instructions on your particular model.

Hope that helps.

I was having the same problem after updating to version 1.220. It didn't even occur to me to
look for what Sniper226 described. I remembered changing this setting when I first got the
car... and it never was reset each time I updated MyGig... but it did this time. I reset it to
Stereo and it sounds perfect once again.

Cycle through your EVIC menu until you see something about Stereo settings... and then
pushe the over arrow to change it to Stereo (I think it was on Surround when I changed it).

I posted about this a while back. You have activated the drivers surround or "sweet spot". For
cars without the Evic system, you just turn your volume level up 2 notches, and then down 2
notches. This can be done with either the buttons on your steering wheel or the volume knob
itself. (and that's how it accidentally gets turned on.) When it switches you will hear a pause in
the sound for just a moment. THen you'll be able to use your equalizer, fader, and balance
again.

Thanks for the info guys. My R/T is fully loaded. The only thing missing is the 20's and
sunroof. I have the Mygig and sound group II. I pulled the up EVIC and I didn't see anything in
there for speakers or stereo. I tried to 2 notch thing as well and didn't get anything. After work
I'll grab my manual and see if I can find anything in there.

For those of you with the EVIC system, its on page 178 of the owner's manual. Driver
Selectable Surround (DSS)

Press and release MENU button until "Surround Sound" displays. Whiel in the Surround
Sound menu, press the FUNCTION SELECT button to change surround modes. Stereo or
Audio Surround.

-Dave

p.s. I just remembered something. The SRT8 is the one with the full EVIC system. My R/T
came loaded and has EVIC too, but does not contain all the functions that the SRT8 does.

If you have an R/T, then the 2 up, 2 down system is the way to go. One person had told me
they thought it was 3 up, 1 down, but my R/T is definitely the 2/2 method.

I've tried everything. Nothing seems to work. Tried the 2 up 2 down but nothing happened. I
guess only the SRT's have the EVIC with the surround sound system because I can't find it...

Read your owners manual and see if there is any mention of it in there.

Mods: Hood Struts, Stealth Mud Flaps, R/T badge on Spoiler, Challenger Script on Fenders, Locking
Gas Cap, Functional (partially lol) Hood Scoop, and (of course) Cubs License Plate Frame.

Is this what you’re talking about?

"TT9001825 … 0809 … Rear speakers inoperative, balance not working (Select stereo mode
in EVIC and recheck sound from rear speakers)"

My rear speakers are working, they just don't sound like they are getting full power. The
equalizer works, if you move it to the rear you can hear the sound coming out, it just sounds
deadened. For R/T guys, can anyone confirm if there EVIC has a stereo mode? I've been
though my EVIC a thousand times and can't find one.

I've already made my guess at what's happening, but I can't figure out why your system won't
let you switch out of that mode one way or the other.

Just to let you know how mine acted, when it was stuck in Driver Surround, it sounded fine
when everything was centered, but I could tell the sound was going towards me (the driver).
When I tried to move the balance/fader to right front, nothing happened. The sound basically
stayed where it was (towards the driver). When I moved it to anywhere in the rear speakers,
the sound coming out was horrible. Almost like the music was under water or something. A
very ugly warbly sound.

If this is what you are hearing, then it has to be the DSS issue.

p.s. This has already been discussed in the forum, but just a reminder, that if you hold down
the lower inner two buttons on the steering wheel of the R/T (for about 7 seconds), it will bring
up some of the functions found on the SRT EVIC. 0-60 time, etc. I don't think it brings up any
stereo functions though.

have family that works there). I'll keep you updated. Thanks for the info.

I sent you a private message about resetting the amp. Have you tried that one?

-Dave

With the key on, turn off the radio.

Turn the key to off position with the door closed.
Wait roughly 2 minutes to allow the system to go into sleep mode.
Turn the key to the on position (do not start vehicle) and wait roughly 2 minutes.
Turn the key back to the off position.

At this point the amp should have detected the cabin ID and reset the programming for your
particular vehicle. The amp should now function properly.

Before I purchased my 2009 SRT8 Challenger they installed an aftermarket touch screen
radio. It sounds terrible. I adjusted everything. Some time some speakers play sometimes I’m
down to the front passenger speaker. Did anyone experience this or can u please help me out
if you know anything about this?
