Group 3: Three Little Pigs

The literary piece entitled, “Three Little Pigs” was written by James Halliwell-Phillipps.
The piece was known for its countless appearances in nursery rhymes and fairytales.

The three little pigs is a fable about three pigs who built their house out of various types
of materials; the first pig built a house of straw, the second pig built his house with sticks, and
the last pig built a house made up of bricks. A Big Bad Wolf comes and destroys the first two
pigs' houses, but is unable to destroy the third pigs' house that is made up of bricks.

The three little pigs represent our social statutes in life and those who set out to seek
their fortune. Those who cannot afford the luxury of safety will not be spared. On the other hand,
the middle class citizens are just given the benefit of a doubt about their safety; a fifty-fifty
chance of safety. Lastly, the rich — the people who can safely hide inside their brick house. The
people who can afford the luxury of safety. In addition, the Big Bad Wolf represents our
government and his puffs are the government's projects and laws. The first pig was greatly
affected by the government's

The story highlights the idea that hard work and dedication do actually pay off.

Quite often or not, short stories such as the “Three Little Pigs" are dismissed and
disregarded, branded as a fable, with no comprehensible meaning only brought upon for the
entertainment of the youth. Yet, provided the representation of the first pig, being lazy, the
second pig, being somewhat hard working yet a tad lazy, and the third pig, being the most
hardworking of them all. Providing the utmost materials for its house, with bricks and various
necessities. These pigs represent the workers of our society, underpaid and undervalued by
their companies, burnt out building their respective foundations for their retirement funds. The
hierarchy of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, provide the idea of how long they’ve worked in their respective
company, the first being lazy due to the fatigue that they’ve endured through working in such
strenuous conditions, the 2nd being somewhat lazy, since they’re particularly new in an
environment there. Whilst, the 3rd, a neophyte, thus providing the most substantial work out of
the three pigs. In that story, a wolf is mentioned, blowing the houses with his puffs, this
represents the capitalists, puffing the workers and exhausting them to the point that their
retirement funds, or funds in general go to waste. In the end, the third pig remains in a state of
security, due to his sudden exposure in a new and profound work environment.
In today's society, we are not resentful or condemning the upper classes for leading
comfortable lives because some people toiled hard to achieve them. They are free to eat
whatever they want, and learn how to defend themselves from potential disasters or
unanticipated issues. The lower classes, in contrast, frequently worry and struggle to put food
on the table. While the three pigs’ mother can be seen as a Proletariat who works hard for the
family, the wolf in the fable represents a member of society who is willing to harm others for his
or her own welfare.

The moral of "The Three Little Pigs" is that perseverance and hard effort pays off. While
the first two pigs quickly built homes made of weak materials and had more free time to play, the
youngest pig toiled in building his house made of bricks, which eventually became their safe
space and protection in danger when an unanticipated disaster blew in.
