This artwork is a piece by the artist Hieu Nguyen, better known as “Kelogsloops” on social
media, what I adore about this piece in particular is his use of texture and color and how his
style gives off an ethereal aura surrounding it, The texture of the watercolor makes it more
appealing to me, as well as the different textures he used by using different watercolor
techniques to achieve the look he was going for. The emphasis can also be seen in this work, at
the same time he uses values, where the backdrop he used was darker than the subject, which
uses a lighter shade to bring the viewer’s eyes toward it immediately. The lines he used are
mixed which gives the piece its character, flowy lines were used for the subject’s hair, while right
where the subject shatters, the lines are more straight and structured. For the principles of art, it
can help with knowing where to go off with a piece and what factors you may consider while
sketching, while the elements of art can help by combining said elements together to make a
wonderful piece with its own unique characteristic. There are very few things i would like to
change about this piece but i would’ve loved it more if the clouds were different in hue from the
subject to make the piece more varied.
