Each member of the class will conduct a counseling simulation with someone in the
house or in a neighbor. Each counselor is expected to follow the following steps:
1. Establish a pleasant atmosphere between the two of you.
2. Ask light questions like, “How’s your day?” “What makes you happy?” etc.
3. You can start asking questions leading to his or her issues like “What makes you sad?”
“What makes you uncomfortable?” “If there is someone you would like to talk to, who
would it be? Why?” etc.
4. Ask follow-up questions to make him or her open up more to you.
5. End the session on a positive note or positive gesture
