Project detailed specifications, drawings, data sheets and all necessary documents shall be prepared to include the requirements of this criteria together with “best practice” engineering requitements for a concentrate copper plant. Criteria shall be applied to the work performed by Hatch, Contractors, system suppliers and equipment vendors. SCOPE Mechanical Design Plot Plan Drawings, will define the location, access, services and all other information necessary to provide a general view of the project facilities. General Arrangement Drawings (GA's), each facility will be drawn to scale and dimensioned. Each Beneral arrangement drawing will define the facility, the working points, and detailed equipment location in relation with structures and other major associated components. These drawings will provide the basis for the coordinated basic design engineering by other engineering disciplines such ascivil, structural, piping, electrical and instrumentation. Equipment List, will show all equipment, listed in numerical sequence with quantity, classification, short description, weight, capacity, size, rating and motor power, P&ID, technical specification ‘umber, and/or requisition number ‘Technical Specifications, will be prepared for all equipment to be quoted and selected Data Sheets, will be prepared for all major equipment to be quoted and selected and it will be included in the Technical Specifications. Provision shall be made for inspection, servicing, removal and replacement of machinery and components. All equipment shall include accessories required for minimizing noise emissions. Isolation mounts or flexible joints shall be used. [At all locations, transmitted vibration shall be limited so as not to exceed the general criteria specified in ISO 2631 “Mechanical Vibration and Shock - Evaluation of Human Exposure to Whole Body Vibration” Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning General All closed areas, offices, electrical rooms, control rooms, tool rooms, change houses and ‘maintenance areas shall be ventilated, and air-conditioned as necessary. The selection of the HVAC equipment shall be based on the following general criteria '* Electrical equipment rooms and indoor substations shall be cooled by filtered air. Rooms shall be pressurized due to dusty environmental conditions using static pressure dampers. © Design conditions for pressurization shall be 2.5 to 5 mm w.g overpressure © Reverse Pulse Carttidge type air filters shall be used at external air intakes to prevent ingress of dust particles into the inside environment. ‘+ Maintenance and replacement of ventilation filters shail be considered. = All control rooms shall have heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems provided by one ‘or more single packaged HVAC split units * All other rooms requiring controlled indoor air temperature shall have split packaged units or filtered air supply fans, depending on the temperature requirements. Commercial standard sheaves shall be used. Arc of contact on the smaller sheave shall be at least 120 degrees. Sheaves shall be limited to a peripheral velocity of 25 mis (5,000 fi/min) and shall be statically balanced. Where possible, sheaves shall be fitted with easily removable tapered bushings. Taper lock fittings shall be utilized for all sheaves. Generally, the use of V-belt drives shall be restricted to the following applications: ‘© Equipment such as vibrating screens motors, ‘© All small shaft mounted gear reducers. + Vertical sump pumps, for floor cleanup and process applications © Fans. Roller Chain Drive Roller chain drives shall be used only in cases where other types of power transmission are difficult ‘or impractical. Shafts shall be designed for fatigue loading method using standard ANSVASME B106.1M, “Design of Transmission Shafting” Bearings Bearings for mechanical and process equipment shall be dusttight, selt-aligning antifriction roller bearings of the multicylinder, spherical or tapered roller type selected to provide a minimum L-10 life as indicated in the table below. L10 life is defined by ABMA as the number of service hours, at a constant speed and rated load, which ninety percent of the bearings shall provide before showing evidence of fatigue. Also Taconite seals shall be used on large gearboxes with intemal bearings, Where required, RTDs for bearings shall be specified Lubrication In general, the recommended lubrication procedures of the equipment manufacturer shall be followed. All guards shall be painted yellow (RAL1004 code) Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems General Hydraulic and pneumatic power systems shall be designed to conform to International Standards Organization (\5O), the Joint Industry Council (IC) “Hydraulic Standards for Industrial equipment” and the latest issue of ANSI B93 “Hydhaulic Standards for industrial Equipment”, as applicable. if a conflict occurs between the standards then the most stringent standards shall prevail Hydraulic Fluid Power Systems Al hydraulic components shall be suitable for use with the hydraulic fluids recommended by the equipment manufacturer or as otherwise specified in the applicable technical specification Hydraulic units shall be compact design, supplied inside a cabinet with removable panels for easy access without restrictions to all components for maintenance and adjustment.
