1. Self-Biography (Bullets are fine!)

My name is Sherlyn Melinda Pablo-Pablo, I am a very shy and quiet person but I love to talk
when I am comfortable. I am a quick learner where I can understand things very easily and
quickly, as time passed by, it started growing in me where I simply process information very
easily. I am the oldest in my family and the only girl out of my 2 little brothers. I love to help
whenever I get the opportunity because it makes me feel like I can give people the opportunity
to move on and make them feel that people care about them. I am bilingual, I know how to
speak english and always spoke spanish since I was a little girl. I am also in the process of
becoming a medical assistant and getting my certification.

2. Future Goals (Bullets are fine!)

● Get my certification in Medical Assisting

● Once I get my certification I want to get a job as a Medical Assistant
● Attend college to continue my process of accomplishing my future career
● Start my journey on becoming a cardiologist

3. Route you will take to achieve your future goals (Bullets are Fine!)

● College - I want to attend GVSU to get my bachelors degree

● After college I am going to take the MCAT which is the Medical College Admission Test
that will decide if I get admitted to Medical school or not depending on my knowledge
● If I pass I will attend Medical School to continue my process
● After Medical School I want to take the USMLE which is the United States Medical
Licensing Examination that allows you to get your medical license depending if you
pass or not
● My next step is to complete the residency program where you will get your residency in
your designated field, for me I will get my Cardiologist residency
● Next on my list is to get board certified in cardiology specialty
 ● Last but not least is to accomplish the fellowship program

Cardiologist

A community/work issue that can be solved with a particular skill set from your career
area (How will I give back?) (ex. Create a campaign to give back to a local cause)

● I can provide them treatments/solutions to their condition

● Help translate bilingual patients who don’t fully understand english
● Show people that I am here to help them and make them feel that they are in safe
hands
● Explain to them what is going on and we can relove it
● Understand that many patients are different and show that I want to communicate with
them so I can help and understand them

My potential hands-on will be: MUST BE VERY DETAILED! (ex. Showcase the entire
campaign.)

*This will be where you will showcase what you created that addresses a community/work
issue.

I have 3 ideas for my hands on

1.) I will bring a cardboard box and perform gentle taps that mimic the heartbeat and
present all the different types of heart beats and what it means. This can help judges
recognize the sound of a heartbeat and how to tell if something is wrong
2.) I will create a presentation that represents all the different heart conditions and they
mean, how it is treated, and how it is diagnosed. This can show judges how heart
conditions are shown, what they look like, and their treatments.
3.) I will bring an ECG print and explain what every detail is shown in the graph, how it is
useful, and how it is used to diagnose patients. This can show the judges how ECH
prints are interpreted and the importance of it.

1. What personal interest do you have in this topic? Why have you chosen this topic for your
Senior Project/Showcase? The blood flows through the heart and how it functions. It
 honestly amazes me how the heart works and how much knowledge it takes to learn
every component and their functions.

2. What research questions will you seek to answer? What kinds of sources might you look
for?

Questions: 1.) Can you explain the blood flow of the heart?

Question 3.) What is your interest in the heart?

Question 4.) What is the average beats per minute of a healthy heart?

The sources I would look into is a certified website or from my mentor who would be a
Cardiologist.

3. Who is a person/company (specifically, or in general) with experience or expertise in this

field you might interview? What understanding do you hope to gain from this
person/company? A cardiologist. I hope I understand the reality of a cardiologist and their
experience through their long journey.

4. What situations, events, or places could you observe or experience to gain insight into
your topic? Heart attacks, unusual heartbeats, where a cardiologist usually spends their
time, and how long is the process of becoming a cardiologist.

5. What challenges might you encounter with your research or project? What assistance or
tools will you need to overcome them?

Finding the right sources for my information, managing my time, and overthinking it. I will
definitely need my family to motivate me and support me in this process because it
definitely isn’t easy.
