What are the benefits and drawbacks of watching TV?

Some people claim that television is harmful, while others think of television as a best friend. Now I would like to talk
about the benefits and drawbacks of watching TV.

Benefit:

- In this busy, expensive life, television is an easy and cheap source of entertainment. By watching international news,
we are kept informed and up-to-date with breaking news around the world.

- Another advantage is that television can also be a good way to help people learn a different language. Some shows can
motivate people who are interested in that field and help them to pursue their dreams.

- Finally, TV can expand your mind. Some shows let you travel vicariously and teach you about different people,
cultures, ideas, and places you might never encounter in real life. Watching a variety of shows might give us a broader
understanding of the world we live in and expose us to things we might otherwise never come across in our own lives.

Disadvantages:

- Watching too much television is not good for your health. Studies have shown that there is a correlation between
watching television and obesity.

- It's a waste of time. Watching television fills the time a person might have spent doing important, enriching things like
interacting socially with other human beings, being physically active, discovering the outdoors. Television can ruin your
relationships.

In conclusion, watching TV has both benefits and disadvantages. In my opinion, the right way of television use is the
way which is responsible and for free time.

TOPICS

You have three minutes to deliver a speech of the topic given. You are expected to include three parts of a speech,
namely Introduction, Development and Conclusion with the use of some linking words.

1/ What are the benefits and disadvantages of learning foreign languages at the early age

Learning a foreign language at an early age has become a growing trend in many countries in the world. Just as a coin
has two sides, early childhood foreign language learning also has its own advantages and disadvantages.

It is clear that learning a foreign language at primary school brings children two particular advantages. Firstly, young
children learn a language faster. They are enthusiastic to explore and learn new things. In addition, they pick up the
pronunciation better and enjoy copying and learning through games. Secondly, nowadays, foreign languages are just as
important as maths. Learning a foreign helps children have better education and job opportunities.
Besides the benefits, early learning a foreign language also has some possible disadvantages. Firstly, children need to
concentrate on learning their mother tongue rather than learning a foreign language. Learning a new language at an early
age may be confusing and wastes time. This learning may delay the development of the child’s first language. The
second disadvantage of early learning a foreign language is primary school teachers maybe not well trained to teach a
foreign language.

In conclusion, there are some particular advantages and disadvantages of learning a new foreign language at an early age.
However, in my opinion, learning a foreign language at primary school is more beneficial than a disadvantage. So, I will
also let my child learn a foreign language from a young age.

2/ What are the benefits and drawbacks of travelling?

There are many ways of spending free time. One of them is travelling. Certainly, it has its pros and cons.

The first advantage of travelling is visiting interesting places and meeting new people. It is connected with getting to
know other cultures and traditions which is surely valuable. Secondly, it is usually said that journeys educate, so whilst
travelling as well as exploration we can make our knowledge wider. Also, we become more experienced and ready to
cope with the surrounding world if we learn something while being on a journey. Furthermore, travelling is the best
solution for those of us who suffer from boredom or want to get away from "grey reality" and experience a great
adventure. Journeys give people a little fun and also make dreams come true.

On the other hand, journeys have some crucial disadvantages. Firstly, costs of travelling are often quite high, for example
travelling by plane, so naturally, not everyone can afford it. What is more, journeys, especially foreign ones, expose us to
the danger of disease or even death. Travelling can lead to falling ill and maybe then too expensive treatment or in case
of a fatal accident like for instance car and aerial one to death of many people. The next disadvantage is fatigue that
occurs while travelling. Most journeys last very long, and it can make us feel tired.

To sum up, travelling is a very good way of spending time. It can educate, give impressions, nice memories and let you
make friends. However, in my opinion, travelling in spite of its whole advantages, should not be the only way to learn
about the world.

3/ Discuss the importance of the Internet.

Today, the internet has become unavoidable in our daily life. Appropriate use of the internet makes our life easy, fast and
simple. The internet helps us with facts and figures, information and knowledge for personal, social and economic
development. There are many uses of the internet, and now I’m gonna talk about some of them.

-Uses of the Internet in Education: The Internet is a great platform for students to learn throughout their lifetime. They
can use the internet to learn new things and even acquire degrees through online education programs. Teachers can also
use the internet to teach students around the world.

- Internet Use to Speed Up Daily Task: The Internet is very much useful in our daily routine tasks. For example, it helps
us to see our notifications and emails. Apart from this, people can use the internet for money transfers, shopping order
online food, etc.

- Use of the Internet for Shopping: With the help of the internet, anybody can order products online. The increase in
online shopping has also resulted in companies offering a huge discount for their customers.

- Internet for Research & Development: The Internet plays a pivotal role in research and development as it is propelled
through internet research. The benefit of the internet is enjoyed by small businessmen to big universities.
-Business Promotion and Innovation: The Internet is also used to sell products by using various e-Commerce solutions.
The result is new services and businesses starting every day thereby creating job opportunities and reducing
unemployment.

-Communication: Without a doubt, the internet is the most powerful medium of communication at present. It connects
people across different parts of the world free and fast.

In conclusion, internet plays an important role in many different fields which includes banks, schools, industries and
others. People have benefited from this technology in both their professional and personal lives.

4/ What are the benefits and drawbacks of watching TV?

5/ What are the advantages and disadvantages of using public transport?

Nowadays, people have many choices of commuting to work including public transport. However, it’s not always the
best solution at all. Let’s consider its pros and cons.

It’s a fact that public transport has many benefits. Firstly, using bus/train,… saves you an amount of money.
Furthermore, the price of buying one car or motorbike is expensive itself. Bus, tram,… is for everyone, even the lowest-
income people. Another advantage is that using public vehicles helps to reduce air pollution and traffic jams. Especially
in the city, where the number of vehicles increasing makes the road crowded and air pollution

On the other hand, there are some disadvantages to public transportation. The problem that confuses people most is that
it wastes time. Usually, people need to wait for some minutes to catch a bus/train, so they need to be punctual in order
not to miss it. In some crowded cities, buses meet difficulties moving among so many vehicles, so people have to wait
for quite a long time before the buses come, which annoys them and causes them to be late for school or work. Besides,
as I mentioned above, the fares are cheap so many people want to use them. Sometimes it is so crowded that it is
impossible to breathe and convenient for pickpocket criminals to commit crimes.

In conclusion, there are both positive and negative aspects of using public transportation. Personally, I still believe that
public transport is advantageous when the government build a modern public transport system to avoid the drawbacks

6/ Present the good points and bad points of having fast food.

- Fast food is the name given to food that can be cooked and served very quickly, fast food can also be described as
any food that provides little or no nutrient value to the diet but instead provides excess calories and fat, fast food
can be a great way to save time but it is not the proper way for nutrition as these foods are often of little
nutritional benefit and high in fat sugar and calories.

Advantages of junk food:

- -saving your time: when you are in hurry and you don't have time to eat your lunch or dinner and you cannot wait
for a longer period of time up for eating junk food is the option for you to fill your stomach and to get somewhat
satisfaction from the hunger
- -easy to make: McDonald’s and burger king make their so-called tasty burgers in just two to three minutes and
you don't have to wait for more than that. so the point is that it is very easy to make and you can make it within a
few minutes compared to lunch or dinner.
- -Affordable price: junk food is always having a low cost compared to lunch and dinner and in restaurants and
hotels because it doesn't need to spend time and material to make, that’s why they are having an affordable price
for everyone.
- Disadvantages of junk food: First of all, fast food is fried by oil. For example, When it was fried, chemical
reactions occur. By-products of these chemical reactions make us sick or give us bad effect. Secondly, Raw
materials of this food don’t have good nutrition for body.
- Eating fast food has advantages and disadvantages for us. Therefore we should eat more vegetables, fruits or
home-cook meals and shouldn’t eat too much fast food in order to have a good health.

7/ There are the negatives and positives of living in a big city. Do you agree with this statement?

Nowadays, large cities are becoming more and more inhabited. The majority of the population prefer living in a big town
mainly because of the great advantages it has compared to living in the countryside. However, what are the benefits of
this situation, and what are the drawbacks? In this essay, I will explore the pros and cons of living in a large city and try
to draw some conclusions.

Let’s start looking at the advantages. One of the main positives of a big town is a large amount of shops available in
every corner of the city. What I mean by this is that wherever you live, there are some useful stores like supermarkets,
banks, tobacconists and clothing stores where you can easily buy everything you need without going to the city centre.
Secondly, living in a big town is a big challenge for evening parties. In London, for example, there are so many things to
do in the evenings like going to the cinema, to the pub or to the park during the summer period.

Turning to the other side of the argument, traffic could be one of the major disadvantages of living in a big city. Many
people take the car every day and it has also been proved that the majority of the families have at least two cars. This
means that you have to deal with rush-hour traffic on your way to work and on your way back. In addition, in a big town
there is consequently a lot of smog and this can really affect people’s health.

To sum up, living in a big city has great advantages but also some significant negatives. You have to weigh up to the
pros of enjoying evenings’ nights outside and the availability of many shops and the cons of cope with smog and traffic
issues. Personally, I believe that the benefits of enjoying the city-life and the comfort of having shops at every corner,
eventually overweigh the negatives.

8/ Discuss the importance of learning English.

As the third most widely spoken language in the world, English is widely spoken and taught in over 118 countries and is
commonly used around the world as a trade language or diplomatic language. It is the language of science, aviation,
computers, diplomacy and tourism. Last but not least, it is the language of international communication, the media and
the internet.

1. English is the Language of International Communication

Although English is not the most spoken language in the world, it is the official language in 53 countries and is spoken
as a first language by around 400 million people worldwide. But that’s not all, it is also the most common second
language in the world. According to the British Council, by 2020 about two billion people in the world will be studying
English.

Therefore, it is highly likely that if you meet someone from another country, you will both be able to speak English. It
gives you an open door to the world and helps you communicate with global citizens.

2. English gives access to more entertainment and more access to the Internet
English is currently the language of the internet. An estimated of 565 million people use the internet every day and about
52% of the world’s most visited websites are displayed in English. Therefore, learning this language gives access to over
half the content of the internet, which might not be available otherwise. Whether it is for fun or for work, if you
understand English, you will be able to exchange information with more people online and use many more materials.

3. English makes it easier to travel

As highlighted before, since English is spoken as a first language in 53 countries and as a second language in over 118
countries, learning the language makes it much easier to travel anywhere. Indeed, airport announcements, train
timetables, emergency information and street signs are often available in English, including in countries where the native
language uses a different type of alphabet

4. English can make you ‘smarter’

Learning a foreign language enhances your cognitive and analytical abilities. Learning a new language can be difficult
and it involves a lot of mental exercises. Bilingualism can keep the brain strong and healthy into old age and supports
concentration and memory skills. On an individual level, it improves personality and increases sense of self-worth. In
simple words, learning a foreign language makes the brain stronger and more versatile.

To sum up, learning English is not only useful, but it also gives a lot of satisfaction and making progress will make you
feel great. Why not make it even more tangible by taking a standardised test to certify your proficiency!

9/ What are the benefits and drawbacks of doing exercises.

There is a number of benefits if you do exercises regularly.

First of all, as everyone knows, it helps people to control weight. If you engage in physical activities, your calories are
burnt. And the more intense the activity is, the more calories you burn. Another advantage I want to mention is that
exercise combats health conditions and diseases. Doing exercise regularly is a way to prevent heart disease, stroke,
depression, a number types of cancer, improve skeletal system,…. Besides, it improves your mood and promotes better
sleep. If you feel stressed about something, do some work out or simple exercises, your stress can be relieved and
disappear. Regular exercises helps you fall asleep faster and deepen your sleep.

But remember not to do exercise before bedtime, do it early in the morning or sometime during the day. Exercising too
much or running too fast can have serious consequences for your body and brain. Over-exerting yourself could actually
undo the results you worked hard to get, and worse, could damage your heart and arteries, lead to injuries, and make you
addicted.

Last but not least, joining physical activities with your best friends are really funny. It gives you a chance to make new
friends, engage in outdoor activities or just promote your relationships. In conclusion, I suggest that you do exercises
regularly due to its huge benefits.

10/ What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in a nuclear family.

Today, many in the world believe that there are several benefits of a nuclear family setup:
More freedom and privacy: Being able to catch up with each other during dinner is of great significance for married
working couples. Privacy enables couples to spend time together, understand the partner's needs, and extend support. In
the modern nuclear family system, couples are freer to express their expectations of each other. What's more, living in a
nuclear family means that couples enjoy greater freedom in making decisions together and with their children.

Shared responsibilities and interdependence: Parents are free to decide on shared responsibilities in the household.
Doing chores and activities together is a great way to bond, extend support and be equally involved in family matters. It
makes everyone in the family feel responsible and understand how interdependent they are on each other.

While there are certain advantages of a nuclear family, the system also has some disadvantages:

Problems with work-life balance: This is the biggest issue faced by couples aiming for growth in the personal and
professional spheres. Many a time, working couples face difficult situations such as the child falling sick, working to
meet a deadline, or school/daycare declaring a holiday when it is a working day for the parents. In an unequal
partnership, it is usually the mother who struggles to cope with it. During such times, the lack of support from extended
family members may not be forthcoming.

Feelings of loneliness and isolation: When parents have hectic work schedules, they find little or no time to spend with
their children. As a result, some children may feel lonely. Some of them resort to spending too much time watching TV
or using gadgets to fill the void. The presence of an extended family member such as a grandparent or an aunt is sorely
missed.

11/ Living in an extended family brings us many advantages. Discuss this statement

Family is one of the most important parts of society. In my opinion, although living in an extended family is not so
popular because of the difference in viewpoints, beliefs, but it brings us many advantages. Firstly, families now face
higher costs of housing and heavier pressure of both childcare and elderly care so living under the same roof can be a
good idea to reduce household expenses. It's hard to pay all the expenses: Internet, electricity bill,... alone, but it's not a
problem when you live in an extended family, you can share it with everyone. Secondly, an extended family is good for
childcare and education. Children will have opportunities to know how to learn, grow up and they also get advice from
older people about history, traditions, social skills, etc. Besides that, children living in extended families tend to be good
at school, more sociable, responsible and sympathetic. Finally, all the family members can spend time together to share
all worries, thoughts, and everyone can understand each other more. The family will be happier and relationships
between them will be maintained. In short, I think an extended family is a good choice for everyone

12/ What are the good points and bad points of wearing uniform.

Many people around the world have their own stylish in dressing the clothes. Uniform can serve multiple purposes for a
business as well as the educational. Nowadays, wearing uniform is a responsibility in some companies and organizations.
They demand their staff to wear uniform because they believe that it has a lot of advantages. However, some others
disagree, so wearing uniform has both benefits and drawbacks.

One of many advantages is that wearing uniform to work make it easier for customers or clients to clearly identify and
spot employees of different companies and organizations, so we are able to know which company or organization an
employee is in as well as most of the customers will immediately recognize your brand.
Another good point is that as you know most people do not feel interested in looking at clothes that are the same as their
own so wearing uniforms to work is the best way to encourage employees in a company or organization to cooperate,
work hard, reduce distraction and people do not have to focus about what they should wear to wear to work or school
and is it appropriate or not.

While all this sounds great, there are also some downsides to wear uniforms. As we know that not all the people are the
same so some people think that wearing uniforms to work can prevent uniqueness from them because they do not feel
comfortable with wearing uniforms the same as the others and they want to wear or dress something that is attractive or
different from others so it can make them feel confident and comfortable.

Moreover, it cost a lot of money because some people think that what if the company or organization only provide a set
of uniform to them so they must buy one or two more sets in order to change, as you can know they cannot wear one
uniform to wear for 5 days.

In conclusion, although wearing uniforms to work has positive influence on employees and companies such as promote
the brand of company and easier for customers to identify but there are still certain negative effects as well.

13/ Discuss the importance of having a university degree.

University degrees are very important for finding a job. That is not to say that having a degree means you are qualified
for a job, it simply means that most jobs will not hire you without one. A degree tells a potential employer that you have
at least a minimum knowledge set in a specific area, and have successfully completed a long term commitment (your
degree).

There definitely are stories of people that left college to start up companies that have grown immensely successful.
However, they are by far the minority, not the norm. The average college dropout will not be able to find a job in the
field they were going to school in, because they have no real representation that they can do the work.

Often times those successful businessmen already had most of the skills that you would learn at university. If you are
talking tech companies, most of them had been coding since they were kids. It is extremely rare that someone would quit
university without already having developed a strong skill set and be successful in the job world. Many of those
successful businessmen you are thinking of probably started their business while they were attending college, then quit
college because they were already earning money and the time and cost of university didn't make sense for them
anymore.

14/ Nowadays, Facebook has become popular? Discuss the reasons?

Along with the advancement of communication and especially the field of telecommunications, world citizens have
experienced a colossal shift of communication habits. Facebook has the right to claim that it has been a major part of this
change by connecting millions of people around the world.

Comparing modern technology to the one used some decades ago gives an insight on how drastically communication
habits have changed. For most of human history, the most efficient type of communication was letters. Eventually, letters
became e-mails and e-mails became posts, likes, pokes, and chat messages. This is where Facebook comes in.
According to statista.com, Facebook had 1.44 billion active users during the first quarter of 2015. The same source
indicates that Facebook has managed to triple the number of its active users since 2010. Interestingly, the most populated
country in the world, China has around 1.40 billion citizens. This means that if Facebook was a country, it would lead
the world in terms of population. But why has Facebook become so popular?

1. Convenience in Communication

In the modern world, all that one has to do in order to communicate with someone at the other end of the planet is pick
up a smartphone and enter the Facebook application or website. Communication was never easier than it is today.
Facebook has managed to connect people from all around the world and literally gave them the power of communication
in the palm of their hands.

2. Entertaining, Informative, Personal

Facebook is so popular because it combines two aspects of common web surfing with an interpersonal element. In this
age, Facebook contains informative content covering every possible global, national, or local issue while at the same
time entertains its users with memes, video games, and other applications. In fact, people today tend to initially reach
some of the most significant news through Facebook and not originally informative media platforms as a result of the
social media site’s immense traffic. Even though Facebook users can obviously find entertainment and info to other
websites, they get an extra incentive to remain on the webpage: interpersonal communication.

3. Point of convergence

Facebook has been a great tool for the organization of events because of its vast user base. Creating social events on
Facebook is almost effortless while the benefits are more than encouraging. Most importantly, a social event posted on
Facebook may potentially reach tens of thousands of users within a couple of days. This power of communication
through Facebook was employed by Tunisians and Egyptians during the Arab Spring of 2011. Actually, some of the
revolutions in the Middle East during that time were triggered through Facebook and Twitter!

4. Personal Interactions

Last but not least goes to the main reason why Facebook has become so interesting for the average person: the opposite
sex. Facebook is all about the opposite sex. It gives an opportunity to its users to view the life of a person-of-interest to
them through photos, special events, posts, and statuses. Furthermore, it gives them the power to get in touch with them
with a couple of clicks.

15/ Discuss the importance of playing sports.

Sports is really important due to several reasons. There are certain things that you can only learn with the
sport’s practice. I can quote some that are correlated with my life:

1. Leadership - you don’t need to be a team captain to learn how to deal with others. In sports
you have to deal with people from all around the world with different beliefs, different ways of
thinking, different knowledge. And you are responsible to learn how to deal with them, how to
make them feel comfortable and happy on the team;
2. Time management - there is a kind of myth regarding sport that is: “When you are professional
(or you take sports in a seriously way) you don’t have any time left”. It´s the exact opposite!!!
With sports you learn how to organize your time in a perfect way. You have time to practice, to
study, to be with your friends/family, to rest. It just depends on you. (Most of the companies
want to hire people with a real good time management).
3. Resilience/ambition - If you want to be good in any sport, you have to be resilient. It will
happen that you practice badly an entire week; or that you don’t get called to the national team;
or even that you don’t get to the roster for the weekend game. Then, you have to stepforward.
You can’t quit! You have to be resilient, to don’t accept failure in order to be the best player you
can ever be (put this way of thinking in everything in your life! It doesn’t make sense to be in an
organization if you don’t believe in it).
4. Responsability/commitment - in a team you have to be commited. You can’t skip practices.
You have to dismiss something to be on practice in time. This applies also to your social and
professional life!
5. Healthy lifestyle - Sports it’s also very important to your own health. You will feel more happy,
with more energy and to will to embrace every new challenge.

16/ Discuss the roles of technology in education.

The following are ways that technology could be better leveraged to improve learning:

With the widespread availability of student databases that are able to track individual progress, teachers are encouraged
to identify learning objectives and differentiate instruction based on the needs of their students.

Whenever teachers attempt to present instruction using technology, they should do so using a channel that is relevant to
the objectives, the learning style, mode and the technology selected.

When evaluating technology-based instruction, there needs to be appropriate evaluation techniques that are in line with
the methods of instruction, objectives and the technology.

Teachers can design follow-up activities when using technology to evaluate students’ learning and the role technology
played in that process.

Overall, technology is central to many sectors of society and its integration into the education process has great promise
for student learning. With technology, one can expect increased efficiency and effectiveness on both the part of teachers
and students. Technology can also prompt pedagogical change and address issues that affect learning, teaching and social
organization. Technology can therefore be seen as both a tool and a catalyst for change. Students should embrace
technology for them to benefit and teachers should be open to introducing technology into the classroom to improve and
innovate their teaching practice.

17/ Discuss the roles of the computers in working places.

Computer use is prevalent in many workplaces, and some companies may find functioning without them virtually
impossible. As a result, computers have become an important part of how companies conduct business as well as how
workers perform their job tasks. Computers can even impact where employees do their jobs, as they can often work
many miles from their official place of business.

Improving Communication

Computers can improve communication both within the workplace and when dealing with customers. An e-mail can
convey a large amount of information at one time and can be viewed at the convenience of the recipient. This can
eliminate the sometimes-endless game of "phone tag" as well as the slowness of sending written information via postal
mail. Computers also give customers an additional method of making inquiries or receiving information.

Improving Efficiency

Computers can increase the speed and accuracy of many work processes, which improves overall worker efficiency.
Documents can be written and edited much more quickly with the aid of a word processing program, and procedures,
such as billing and accounting, can also occur more rapidly and with fewer errors. Computers can produce reports with
great speed and allow for the easy insertion of enhancements, such as charts, graphs and pictures if desired. Computers
also help companies in administrative tasks, such as keeping up-to-date and accurate records.

Less Paper

As workplaces depend more heavily on computers, the need for paper may also increase. Some companies may even
institute a policy of eliminating the use of paper wherever possible with the ultimate goal of becoming a paperless
organization. Reducing paper may lead to a reduction in office supply costs and open more work space that had
previously been used to store paper documents in file cabinets. Paperless offices need to develop contingency plans to
guard against computer crashes or the loss of data.

Workplace Culture

Computers can play a vital role in how a company operates, which also impacts the workplace culture. Able workers
who live a long distance from the workplace can telecommute with the aid of a computer, and the available talent pool
when job openings occur also increases. Employers who rely on a work culture that relies on telecommuters may need to
find creative ways to maintain morale and a sense of teamwork within the organization, as employees may not meet in
person as often.

18/ Discuss the importance of mobile phones.

Mobile Phone is often also called “cellular phone”. It is a device mainly used for a voice call. Presently technological

19/ What are advantages and disadvantages of online education.

As with most teaching methods, online learning also has its own set of positives and negatives.

What Are The Advantages Of Online Learning?

1. Efficiency

Online learning offers teachers an efficient way to deliver lessons to students. Online learning has a number of tools such
as videos, PDFs, podcasts, and teachers can use all these tools as part of their lesson plans. By extending the lesson plan
beyond traditional textbooks to include online resources, teachers are able to become more efficient educators.

2. Accessibility Of Time And Place

Another advantage of online education is that it allows students to attend classes from any location of their choice. It also
allows schools to reach out to a more extensive network of students, instead of being restricted by geographical
boundaries. Additionally, online lectures can be recorded, archived, and shared for future reference. This allows students
to access the learning material at a time of their comfort.

Thus, online learning offers students the accessibility of time and place in education.
3. Affordability

Another advantage of online learning is reduced financial costs. Online education is far more affordable as compared to
physical learning. This is because online learning eliminates the cost points of student transportation, student meals, and
most importantly, real estate. Additionally, all the course or study materials are available online, thus creating a paperless
learning environment which is more affordable, while also being beneficial to the environment.

4. Improved Student Attendance

Since online classes can be taken from home or location of choice, there are fewer chances of students missing out on
lessons.

5. Suits A Variety Of Learning Styles

Every student has a different learning journey and a different learning style. Some students are visual learners, while
some students prefer to learn through audio. Similarly, some students thrive in the classroom, and other students are solo
learners who get distracted by large groups.

The online learning system, with its range of options and resources, can be personalized in many ways. It is the best way
to create a perfect learning environment suited to the needs of each student.

What Are The Disadvantages Of Online Learning?

1. Inability To Focus On Screens

For many students, one of the biggest challenges of online learning is the struggle with focusing on the screen for long
periods of time. With online learning, there is also a greater chance for students to be easily distracted by social media or
other sites. Therefore, it is imperative for the teachers to keep their online classes crisp, engaging, and interactive to help
students stay focused on the lesson.

2. Technology Issues

Another key challenge of online classes is internet connectivity. While internet penetration has grown in leaps and
bounds over the past few years, in smaller cities and towns, a consistent connection with decent speed is a problem.
Without a consistent internet connection for students or teachers, there can be a lack of continuity in learning for the
child. This is detrimental to the education process.

3. Sense Of Isolation

Students can learn a lot from being in the company of their peers. However, in an online class, there are minimal
physical interactions between students and teachers. This often results in a sense of isolation for the students. In this
situation, it is imperative that the school allow for other forms of communication between the students, peers, and
teachers. This can include online messages, emails and video conferencing that will allow for face-to-face interaction and
reduce the sense of isolation.

4. Teacher Training
Online learning requires teachers to have a basic understanding of using digital forms of learning. However, this is not
the case always. Very often, teachers have a very basic understanding of technology. Sometimes, they don’t even have
the necessary resources and tools to conducts online classes.

To combat this, it is important for schools to invest in training teachers with the latest technology updates so that they
can conduct their online classes seamlessly.

5. Manage Screen Time

Many parents are concerned about the health hazards of having their children spend so many hours staring at a screen.
This increase in screen time is one of the biggest concerns and disadvantages of online learning. Sometimes students also
develop bad posture and other physical problems due to staying hunched in front of a screen.

20/ Do you think people today have less free time than in the past? Why or Why not?

Well, that’s a deep question. If we define free time as the time spent not working, then the variation between the current
times and the past is significant. Technological change has ensured that, while people can work for 8 hours in a day as
opposed to the almost unimaginable 12 or more hours put in during the Industrial age, we are busier than ever.

Employees now have the luxury of working remotely; which means that they get to choose the time that they can work
on job issues and when to rest. However, due to economic changes, specifically high taxation rates, high interest rates on
loans and high inflation rates, the need to have extra sources of income has increased. This means that even for the
employed, drop shipping, blogging and devoting any free time to selling products or services on the side, is almost a
necessity.

More people around the world also work during the weekends which was ,traditionally, the time one considered to be
their “free-time”. Many kids will testify to never having an hour of playtime with their parents over the weekend as they
are always busy finishing up on reports or furiously typing away on their laptops.

Any free time is spent on mobile devices. After all job and side-hustle commitments are met, the rest of the time is spent
staring at smartphone screens . Social media use is projected to hit the 2.77 billion-user mark in 2019 which will be an
increase of 310 million people from 2017 user base.

Employees in the workplace also use social media whenever they are “free” and this has raised concerns that workplace
resources are being wasted and productivity getting affected. This explains the recent phenomenon of workplace
monitoring and surveillance seeking to curtail this. Of course, monitoring social media use means that even the little time
that employees would consider free will be cut short even further in order to increase productivity. One wonders whether
all work without play no longer makes Jack a dull boy. At any rate, companies will have to come up with ways to
provide some form of free time or relaxation to employees or risk overworking them. I digress.

So, to answer your question and in my opinion, no. At least not in the literal meaning provided above. Our ancestors
hunting and gathering lifestyle definitely provided them with a lot of free time to just “chill out” and narrate stories to
each other around fireplaces in a cave or under some tree. The agricultural age was demanding too but only during the
planting and harvesting seasons meaning that, for most of the time, people were ‘free’. In the 21st Century, in order to
maintain, a semblance of a comfortable life, any free time is spent finding more work and the little that is not, is spent on
social media. Social media is our means of narrating stories to each other but we still have limited time for it in that
sense, but that’s on a subjective level.

21/ Discuss the importance of punctuality.

Punctuality is of great importance, it is truly underestimated and must be given utmost importance. When a person
becomes punctual, everything else falls into place. You get discipline in life and also earn the respect of the others.

Subsequently, a punctual person works on time without any hindrance. The people who are employed in armies and
navies are given rigorous/ˈriɡ(ə)rəs/ training to become disciplined and punctual. They pay no heed to any
circumstances be it rain or thunder, they care about their punctuality.

Furthermore, punctuality pushes the person to achieve success at faster rates than others. We must develop this quality in
children from an early age which will make it easy for everyone to lead a better life. When a person is punctual, they get
utmost respect and admiration by society and reach greater heights than an unpunctual person.

22/ What are the positives and negatives of zoos.

23/ Discuss the importance of reading newspapers

Reading newspaper is a good habit that can provide a great sense of educational value. With this habit, it will not only
enhance your knowledge about general information but it will likewise improve your language skills and vocabulary.
Many people have habits of reading daily newspapers that make their days seem incomplete without taking hold of early
morning newspapers.

As we can see, the role of newspapers cannot be underrated. It provides news, it brings awareness of issues, it generates
employment. Newspapers continue to be one of the best informative mediums today.

27/ What are the benefits of visiting museums?

28/ What are the benefits and drawbacks of living in a nuclear family? Do you like living in that type of family?

What are the benefits and drawbacks of living in a nuclear family? Do you like living in that type of family?

People have to consider and take into account the advantages and disadvantages of living with thier nuclear family or
with their extended family.

In some cases, families feel a little bored about sharing conversatiosn and moments only with their parents, brothers and
sisters. In other cases, they need more privacy and they are tired of having an extended family. They try to think about
how different or similar life could be with or without the company of each family. Living with their nuclear or extended
family has different but beneficial advantages. On the one hand, nuclear families can create stronger bonds and a stable
environment that give children a higher probability of having stability in their relationships and emotional bonds.
Furthermore a family provides a sense of consistence, a better knowledge of each member of the group because they are
usually closer than in extended families. On the other hand, having the support of an extended family helps parents to
cope with childcare or economic difficulties. Also, they can learn about different points of view, sharing opinions and
having a close relationship with relatives. These two ways to live also have their bad points or disadvantage. In the case
of a nuclear family sometimes they need other relatives to rely on and talk about their problems because they will help
them whenever they need.

However, living with the extended family has problems too, as the lack of privacy and conflicts or fights about the use of
some things. For example, when grandparents want to watch a TV programme and their grandchildren do not.

In conclusion, families have different ways of coexistence. Some need the company of an extended family and others
prefer the intimacy and closeness of a nuclear family. Both have their advantages and disadvantages but they are
essential necessary units.

29/ Discuss the importance of having Physical Education lessons at schools.

30/ Nowadays, studying overseas has become popular? What are the advantages and disadvantages?

An increasing number of students are deciding to study overseas and many find the option very attractive. Whilst this is
not something that every student would choose, it is, in my opinion, an extremely attractive proposition for those who
would benefit from the opportunity.

Studying overseas has many advantages for students. Firstly, it will give students the experience of other markets,
cultures and perspectives. This means that those students with overseas experience would become more attractive to
prospective employers operating in this increasingly globalised world. Secondly, studying and living abroad will provide
students with the opportunity of acquiring a second language at a social and professional level. As a result, improving
their contacts and employment prospects. Finally, the experience of studying and living in a foreign country would
ensure that students become more independent, self-confident and self-reliant.

On the other hand, studying abroad could have some disadvantages in some circumstances. If students had to study in a
second language, it could limit their performance and their success in their chosen subject. Furthermore, for many
students, studying abroad would have no material benefit. For example studying English in a non-English speaking
country or taking some technical subjects would appear to offer little benefit.

In conclusion, I believe that any disadvantages are heavily outweighed by the significant benefits that can come from
studying abroad for those who would choose it or find it beneficial. Not only would the experience gained from living in
other countries be desirable to future employers but also gaining proficiency in another language can only be a benefit to
their lives in general.
31/ What are the benefits of travelling by public transport?
Nowadays, people have many choices of commuting to work including public transport because it brings them a lot of
benefits. Firstl and foremost, by using buses or trains for travelling, they can save a large amount of money. It can be
clearly seen that when people drive a private car or a motorbike, they must pay for not only the cost of petrol but also the
regular maintenance fee. Furthermore, the price of buying one car or motorbike is very expensive whereas buses and
trams is for everyone, even the lowest-income people. Another advantage I want to mention is that using public vehicle
is a method to reduce air pollution and traffic jams. Especially in the city, when the increase in the number of vehicles
makes the road more crowded, the public transport system is developed to deal with traffic jam and reduce the pollutant
released by petrol-run vehicles. Therefore, using more public transportation is beneficial to everyone.
32/ What are the causes of air pollution in cities?
It is undeniable that air pollution is one of the most pressing environmental issues that the world has to face today. This
essay attempts to explore some major causes of the issue and propose some possible solutions to it.

Although air pollution results from various factors, primarily responsible for it is none other than human activity. In
many parts of the world, intact forests have been cleared at an astonishing rate for pasturelands and croplands, with a
number of illegal logging cases for valuable hardwoods. Forests, known for its ability to massively utilize carbon dioxide
and release oxygen and water vapor into the atmosphere, play an essential role in purifying the air we breathe. For this
reason, their removal has done more harm than good to the air quality around the area, or even on a global scale. In
addition to deforestation, another human-related leading cause of air pollution is vehicle emissions, which in fact is the
predominant source of air pollution in city environments. With the rapidly expanding urbanization across the world, the
motor vehicle population grows exponentially, meaning that an elevated level of pollutants is produced in the urban air
on a daily basis.

Fortunately, several measures can be taken to protect the global air from further contamination. An effective method to
cut down on emissions in the cities is to promote the use of environmentally friendly transports. Alternatives such as
public transportation and fully electric vehicles either minimize emission per vehicle or do not emit exhaust fumes,
therefore will help reduce vehicle emissions significantly. Another measure pertains to how forests should be protected
and managed. It will be the government's responsibility to enforce tighter regulation on deforestation as well as stricter
punishment for illegal logging. In other words, forest clearance for any purpose will be restricted unless it is utterly
necessary, and pushing up the penalty will discourage people from violating the laws.

In conclusion, our mistreatment of our environment has greatly contributed to the cause of air pollution. However, as
long as we take appropriate action with keen patience, it is possible that we can bring the air quality in our living areas
back to its clean and fresh form.

33/ What are the advantages of reading books?

Reading books bring about many benefits. Firstly, book is a huge source of information, so reading gives us new
knowledge. Books can be described as a door opening to the world and even outside the world. For example, scientific
books provide knowledge in the field of science, novels have the information of cultures and customs in some regions.
Secondly, reading improves your memory and concentration. While reading, we tend to stop and think of a problem or a
story in the book, which results in the ability to focus and remember the content we read. Another advantage is that
reading helps relax and release stress. When your read something, you must be silent and calm down. Our bodies can
have a rest and we don’t have anything to worry while focus on reading a book. Some books have fun like jokes,
romantic novels or comic make you happy and release depression. Last but not least, reading books improve your
communication skill. Books provide a large number of vocabulary, and each sentence in book is chosen carefully. The
results is that you have more new words and grammars to use when talking, especially when you have to give a speech
or presentation. In conclusion, it’s undeniable that books play a vital part of life. And if you want to gain success, read a
lot of books.

34/ Discuss the importance of having best friends.

We all know how important it is to have friends. Friends are the ones you laugh with, you party with and you make
memories with. Friends are the people that you go shopping with, go get coffee with and even go to the gym with. But
sometimes, certain people come into your life that are truly special and it makes you realize how much more friendship
is than just having someone to hang out with. Having best friends is like having a second family. There are so many
things that best friends do for you, which is why it is so important to cherish them dearly. Here are just a few reasons
why it is so important to have best friends.

1. They are there for you through the good times and the bad.

Sure, any friend can be there for you when you do good on a test, when you find a twenty dollar bill on the floor or when
you find out great news. But only best friends are there for you through the bad times as well. A best friend is there for
you through the good, the bad, the pretty and the ugly. A best friend will let you cry in your arms, let you talk about your
problems (even if it is longer than you expected) and give you advice if you are unsure what to do in a tough situation.

2. They have your back through thick and thin.

A best friend is there for you no matter what. Whether or not they agree with the situation at hand, a best friend will
always have your back. A best friend will support your decisions and will let you know when you are making wrong
ones. They will defend you when something goes wrong and will back you up because they know you would do the
same in return.

3. They genuinely want the best for you.

When you have a best friend, there’s no such thing as jealousy. You want the best for her just like she wants the best for
you. They look out for your best interests and actually want you to go far in life. There are many people in this world that
will put you down and hope that you fail. It's encouraging and beautiful to have people in your life that actually want you
to succeed and be happy.

All in all, the importance of having best friends are crucial. Those are the people you can tell your deepest darkest secrets
to; the people who will be there for you no matter what and the people that want to see you succeed. Having a best friend
is clearly way more than having fun with them and hanging out. Having a best friend is having a second family for life.

35/ What important things do you consider while making a big decision?

36/ What role does technological development play in people’s lives?

37/ Discuss some of the most important skills for young people to have in today’s job market?

38/ Describe some of the factors that make one family happy and another unhappy?

39/ Compare life in the city with life in the countryside.

40/ What are the positive and negative impacts of tourism.

41/ Why have so many people nowadays gone to live in big cities?

42/ What are some advantages and disadvantages of living in the countryside?
Living in the countryside has a lot of advantages, but also many disadvantages. As the advantage, we can consider the
fact that the country is less polluted and the traffic isn't so heavy. You are fit and you don't need to worry about your
health condition because in the countryside the air and water are so clean. In the country, there are many plant species.
There aren't any huge blocks of flats, modern skyscrapers or bothersome traffic jams. In the country you are free to
admire the breathtaking landscapes such as huge meadows, peaceful hills or forests. You can enjoy walking in the forest
and picking mushrooms or hunting. Another advantage is that you may easily build a big house and the garden, because
charges for ground are much lower than in the suburbs. Moreover, living in the countryside is cheaper than it is in the
city, so you probably may afford many other things, because the prices are lower. What is more, you can invite your
friends to the barbecue organized in your garden. It would be great! The other positive side is the safety. In the rural area
the crime rate is much lower. There aren't a lot of housebreaks and the possibility of burglary is also lower. In the
countryside people usually and keep eyes on neighbour's estates. They always react when something strange is
happening. Country life is very peaceful and silent. You will enjoy the feeling of peace.

However, there are a lot of positive aspects of living in the country side, there are also some disadvantages. Living in the
country is slower. People don't need to hurry and have a lot of time. People in the country don't have to work so many
hours as they do in the city. On the other hand, they don't earn so much money. Moreover, there aren't such interesting
things to do during free time. The unemployment rate is also much higher than in the city. The problem may be also the
communication. If you don't have your own car, you may have problem how to commute to work. The same problem
concerns the access to the hospitals, schools, police stations and shops, which are usually located far from the village.
Last of all, there are some dangers connected with country life such as heavy snowfall or rainfall.

To sum up, I think that living in the country may have a lot of advantages such as fresh air, breathtaking landscapes and
comfort, but a lot of people decide to stay in the city, due to the fact that the life in the town is easier. The easy access to
shops and other institutions are the great advantage.

43/ What do you think of shopping on the Internet?

Currently, people are increasingly doing their shopping on the Internet instead of going to stores. I personally believe this
tendency has both positive and negative effects, which will be discussed below.

On the one hand, there are some benefits of online shopping. Firstly, it is a quicker and cheaper way to shop since people
can buy products at home without having to go to stores or shopping malls. For example, Amazon and eBay are two
popular websites that provide a huge number of different products, and customers can visit those sites and make
purchases easily. As a result, consumers can save time and the costs of travelling. Secondly, online shopping allows
people to have a wider range of choices as they can compare different brands and products. For instance, buyers can
easily compare the shoes of Converse and Vans, while it is difficult to do that at physical stores.

On the other hand, online shopping can be negative in several ways. The first drawback is that customers cannot try
products before making a purchase. For example, a girl cannot try wearing a dress to see if it fits her body. Furthermore,
products sold online are often less reliable, and the product that people finally get delivered to their house might have
poorer quality than expected. Finally, because online shopping is easier and cheaper, people tend to buy too much, which
would lead to a large waste of money. This is less likely to happen if shopping in stores is more popular.

In conclusion, I believe the fact that shopping on the Internet is replacing shopping in physical stores is both positive and
negative.

44/ Nowadays, studying overseas has become popular. What are the advantages and disadvantages?
45/ What is the most important skill today?

Life is very competitive now. In order to succeed in life, a person should learn many different skills like communication,
hard work, patience etc. I think it is the communication skill which is the most important.

A person who has good interpersonal skill can learn more in a short time. He can gather a lot more information by
talking than by other means like reading books. For example, if a student wants to study abroad he should talk to
someone who has been through the same experience. If he is shy to talk to someone he will have to spend a lot of time
finding out the information.

People with effective communication skill have good relationships with others. Everyone trusts and rely on him. He can
count on others to help him when he is in need. A good manager who has a very good relationship with others can ask
for help anytime he wants. As everybody loves him, everyone will help him heartily.

A good communicator can get a good job. He can make anyone understand what he is capable of. He can create a good
first impression. He can convince an employer that he is the best person for the job.

Everyone wants to be successful in life. The most important skill a person should learn to reach that goal is
communication. He can learn more, have a good job and have more friends who can help him succeed in life.
