1、Ultra-filtration Working Principle

Hollow fiber ultra-filtration membrane separation technology is widely used in

separation, concentration and purification of solution and gaseous matter. It takes the

permeation membrane as separation media, and there are many micro-holes on the

membrane wall, original solution pass through the membrane under the stated pressure,

solvent and small-molecule solute through the membrane wall become filtered solution,

and macro-molecule solute is intercepted by the membrane, thereby achieve the purpose

of separation and concentration. The membrane separation process is the dynamic

filtration process, the macro-molecule solute obstruct by the membrane wall, flows out

the membrane module along with the concentrated solution, the membrane is not easily

stopped up, may use for a long time continuously. The filtration process may carry out

under the normal temperature, the low pressure, non-phase state change, highly effective

and energy conservation.

The hollow fiber membrane is an important form of the membrane separation. In the

unit volume membrane module, the hollow fiber membrane's effective membrane area is

biggest, the filtration separation efficiency is high, easy to clean, the structure is simple,

easy to operate, does not have second pollution in the production process. This structure

is the hollow fiber membrane structure, extrudes by the fiber. This kind of fiber has the

dissymmetrical structure, and thin like hair. Several million textile fibers form a bunch;

insert the same long porous plastic tube into the bunch as the water spreader. Both sides

of the fibrous bundles with the epoxy resin seal, airtight at one side, and form the produce

water flow channel at other side.

The hollow fiber membrane uses the import polysulphone material membrane

element, with the intrinsic pressure type structure, superior chemical stability, good water

affinity, easy to clean for restoration when the dirt stops up. The raw water pass the

pre-filtration enter into the hollow fiber membrane element, production water flow out

from the hollow fiber membrane center hole, concentrate water flows out, simultaneously

carries off the pollutant on membrane surface.

2、Installation and Operation

2.1 Installation precautions:


2.1.1 After you receive the equipment, please let the equipment set in the room of
ventilation and dry, do not shine in the sunlight, there should be an attemperator when
in winter, make sure the room temperature is ≥5℃, and the room temperature is not
higher than 40℃ when in summer. The equipment installation place also should be
accord with the above requirement.
2.1.2 When you receive the equipment, please finish the installation in one month,
and test the running at once.
2.1.3 The equipment is sealed up before running test, do not teardown the fittings
and open the valves willfully, in order to avoid the outflow of protection liquid, cause
membrane module damage.
2.1.4 There should be a drain near the installation place, it’s convenient for the
cleaning liquid draining。

2.1.5 When the equipment is seated, should adjust the knighthead,make the module
in the parallel position basically, and is reliable with the foundation.
2.2、Ultra-filtration equipment test steps and Running
2.2.1 Analyze and test the water inlet of the equipment, you can carry out the water
inlet test only6 when the result meets the inlet water requirement.
2.2.2 Inspect all the connection of pipelines, check is there any problem, and the
pressure gauge is complete or not.
2.2.3 Start the booster pump water supply, the whole system flushing for 5~10
minutes(Water discharge). Waited the water out without the formaldehyde (or other
protection fluid) smell.
2.2.4 Boot operation four hours after the wash for 5 minutes(Operating cycle).
2.2.5 Running pressure should not exceed 0.3Mpa, and flushing pressure should not
exceed 0.2Mpa.
2.3、Short-term stoppage
Stop for 5-30 days called the short-term stoppage, may use the following protective
measures.
Use the method of low pressure flushing to flush the ultra-filter equipment.
May also run for 1-2 hours under the running condition
Operate one time every 2 days repeatedly according to the above method; operate
one time every day in summer.
2.4、Protection for long stoppage
Stop for more than one month called the long-term stoppage, may use the following
protective measures.
Use the acid solution with PH 3-4, cleaning the ultra-filter equipment for 2 hours.
After finished the acid solution clean, cleaning the ultra-filter equipment with
pretreated water until the inlet water PH is approximate to the outlet water PH.
After the clean finished, pour the 0.5% formaldehyde or 1% sodium bisulfite
solution into ultra-filter equipment by the cleaning equipment for the protection. After the
ultra-filter equipment is full with protection liquid, close all the valves, in order to avoid
the air enter into the ultra-filter equipment.

2.5、Frostbite prevention in winter
When the winter suspends shipment, the frostproof protection fluid may under the
composition be the reference:
Stoppage in winter, Frostbite prevention fluid may reference as the following:
5% glycerol solution +0.5% sodium bisulfite solution

Remark : All the PH3-4 acid solution and 5% glycerol solution or 0.5% sodium
bisulfite solution should be confected by ultra-filtered water.

2.6、Chemistry Cleaning
2.6.1 Confect the chemistry cleaning solution by the certain proportion solution in
the cleaning tank, drive the cleaning liquid into the ultra-filter membrane element by the
pump, cleaning for 5 minutes circularly, stops the pump running, soaks the membrane
element for 1 hour, then flushing for 1~2 hours circularly again, discharge the cleaning
liquid, cleans with the ultra-filtered water two times then determines the water flux, to
examine the cleaning effect.
2.6.2 Confect the chemistry cleaning solution, the chemicals should be in the reagent
level, you’d better the control temperature in 30℃~40℃. If need to use many kinds of
cleaning agent, you should drain away the cleaning solution after each time cleaning. You
can use another kind of cleaning agent to clean only when after cleaning the system by
water cleanly.
2.6.3 You should carry out the sterilization in the system, when microorganism
exceeding or before long-term stoppage. The commonly used antiseptic liquid is 0.5%
hydrogen peroxide solution, and the method is the same as the chemical cleaning.
2.6.4After finish each cleaning, should clean the chemistry cleaning equipment by
clean water, do not let it in the in acid or alkalinity condition for long time.

Note: Cleaning liquid formula:

⑴ 0.3% NaOH+0.1% alkalinity proteinase

(cleaning liquid temperature in 20~30℃) PH≤10;

⑵ 0.4% HCl or 0.5% oxalic acid (PH value =3).

NOTICE BEFORE INSTALLATION

1. Make sure the assembling of all pipes for feed water, product water and drainage water are
connected.
2. The power source should be all coincided with the voltage , phase , frequency and electric
current of this system
3. This system is semi-automatic controlled. Please do not operate it without technicians
