Battery Operated Vehicles -
Safety Requirements of Traction Batteries

Substitute following text for existing test:

6.3.3 Shock Test (2.2.2)

Justification: AISC panel on AIS 037 has agreed to include Traction battery as safety
component for Type approval and Conformity of Production (CoP) requirements under the
purview of AIS 037 vide draft Amendment 6.

Conformity of Production (CoP) requirements for Traction Battery are already addressed in
AIS 048 vide clause no 6.0 with following tests.

1. Short Circuit Test (2.1.1)

2. Overcharge Test (2.1.2)
3. Roll Over test (2.2.3)

The same was discussed in 52nd AISC meeting held on 4th May 2016 at ARAI and decided to
replace “Roll Over test” with “Shock Test ” in case of CoP test plan of traction battery.

Shock test is considered so as to cover performance test for traction battery CoP testing.
