Evaluation Plan

Formative Evaluation Plan

For my formative evaluation, I will have a content expert in Science as well as the district
curriculum coordinator review the PowerPoint of instruction of formative assessments
used for gamification. For my small group instruction, I will work with 1 science teacher
and 1 science instructional coach to review the process and complete the tasks. During
the one-on-one session, the participants will be informed of the goal, provided with the
instructions, and complete the gamification tasks while I guide them through the steps.

One-to-One Evaluations
a. Description of who served as one-to-one evaluators and why they were chosen

I chose a science teacher due to my own expertise in science when identifying

learning intentions and success criteria for a given formative assessment. I
chose the instructional coach to ensure the instructions meet the requirements
of formative assessment components while being transferred to a gamified
tool.

b. Length of the one-to-one meetings

The meeting lasted for approximately 35 minutes.

c. Description of the activities done during the one-to-one meetings

We met virtually due to being at different locations, but during the meeting, I
discussed the overall goal and introduced the instructional materials
completed the tasks as I shared my screen as to display the instructions as well
as guiding them through the curriculum and creation of the self-reflection tool.

d. Remarks on how long it took the evaluators to complete the activities

Both completed the tasks within 30 minutes due to familiarity with the district
curriculum, having an existing formative assessment, and familiarity with
gamified tools.

e. Results of the assessments that evaluators completed

Both evaluators were able to create a game within Blooket using an existing
formative assessment with modified questions, and both were able to include
the learning intention and success criteria to inform the students of the
learning goals prior to the assessment.

f. Feedback received from the evaluators during these sessions

- suggested more examples of formative assessment questions (both multiple

choice and open-ended) to relate and understand the importance of the task.
- recommended a brief overview of the district curriculum components for
those that may not be able to easily identify the TEKS for a formative
assessment.

g. Description of revisions that could be made to instruction based on feedback

I will gather more examples of formative assessment questions that allow

students to provide thoughtful and detailed responses, especially on the open-
ended questions.

I will provide a quick overview of the components of the curriculum (tabs) that
will enable the learners to locate the essential components needed to create
the self-reflection tool.

h. Links to any questionnaires, documents, or materials created specifically for one-

to-one evaluations

Questions were asked verbally during the session to obtain feedback.
