A Living Hope Through the Resurrection


1 Peter 1:1-9

Introduction: Is hope a possibility in a time of high unemployment, economic uncertainty, global


tensions and personal problems? The resurrection of Jesus offers an answer that echoes a
resounding “yes” from the inside of the empty tomb. Easter cuts through the fog of human
uncertainty, global problems and individual suffering to offer a hope that cannot be diminished by any
circumstance or any complexity. Whether today’s message of hope lifts your spirit or challenges your
preconceptions, it is sure to offer you the best hope for humanity.

It is possible for you to live every day with hope - 1 Peter 1:3, Praise be to the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope
through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
1. Living hope is offered to you as a gift from God. vs. 3, In his great mercy he has given us new
birth into a living hope.

2. Living hope will transform you into someone special. vs. 3, In his great mercy he has given us
new birth into a living hope.

3. Living hope is anchored to the Resurrection of Jesus. vs. 3, In his great mercy he has given us
new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

The benefits and blessings of your Living Hope - 1:4-6


1. Living hope is an eternal inheritance. vs. 4, born again…into an inheritance…

2. Living hope is imperishable. vs. 4, …an inheritance that can never perish…

3. Living hope is “unspoilable.” vs. 4, …an inheritance that can never…spoil or fade…

4. Living hope is reserved for you. vs. 4, …this inheritance is kept in heaven for you…

5. Living hope is guarded by God. vs. 5, …this inheritance is…shielded by God’s power…

6. Living hope leads to joy. vs. 6, Peter said, “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a
little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.”

Conclusion: two big questions:


 Do you have this living hope?

 Are you living in the power of this hope?”

Easter calls you to trust in Christ, our Living Hope.
