Conflict Management as a Team leader
PREVENTING WORKPLACE VIOLENCE

Everyone has a unique character. We all hold unique perspectives. Everyone comes from a
diverse background. Everyone carries unique values. Everybody has a unique set of skills. Since
we all face so many differences in our day-to-day lives, conflict will eventually emerge and it will
likely happen frequently. It's important to acknowledge that a conflict-free workplace isn't
always a positive thing. Conflict can be both common and beneficial. The foundation to
innovation and future success is to manage team conflicts and to create a culture where
criticism is valued and where people able to freely express their opinions.

As a team leader, it's not possible for me to focus on everyone's concerns and troubles. Conflict
will brew and flare up among the whirlwind of information and encounters, driven by different
opinions, grudges held against others, or miscommunications. Nevertheless, being involved in
the argument doesn't help others handle it, nor does trying to fix all the problems on my own.

Reduce conflict before it ever arises is the first step. Conflict incompetence has obvious
consequences.

As a team leader I will try to resolve it in following ways:

 Reflective thinking: Evaluating the benefits and drawbacks of the specific circumstance
is reflective thinking. Before the discussion, making a list of potential issues I wish to
raise might help me concentrate on being open, paying attention without interrupting,
or expressing anger.

 Adapting behavior: Becoming flexible and putting forth an effort to improve the
situation are core aspects of adapting behavior.  Although, every conflict cannot
be managed in a way that is entirely satisfying, but if I handle the issue with an adaptive
leadership style and flexible mindset, I'll more likely be capable of making adjustments
to avoid conflicts in the future.

It's necessary to know how to handle conflict in a team, especially unhealthy disagreement. In
fact, productive confrontation is not harmful. It won't harm my workplace culture either. In
contrast, when handled right using effective team conflict management activities, conflict may
ignite the creative flair that is so essential to the success of the organization.
