TITLE: Osmosis

AIM: To observe the process of osmosis through a potato

APPARATUS AND MATERIALS: Potato, salt, water, Petri dish, knife, ruler

DIAGRAM:

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Using the knife, peel the potato and cut two strips of dimensions 1.5cm x 1.5cm x 5cm.
2. Place each potato strip in a petri dish.
3. Make a mixture of concentrated salt solution, ensure the salt is completely diluted.
4. Pour the salt solution in the petri dish until the potato strip is half way covered.
5. Pour regular water into the other petri dish until the potato strip is half way covered.
6. Leave for 5 hours and make your observations.
