TECHNICAL TRAINING PROGRAM

INTRODUCTION

The O’Brien Technical Training Program is a structured program to enable

Technicians to receive the training to make them the best Auto
Technicians that they can be. Participation in the program enables
Technicians to move from Trainee Auto Technician through to Qualified
Auto Technician as they improve their skills and experience.

The Program consists of six components:

• Theoretical knowledge (gained through face to face or video

interface with your Technical Trainer)

• Practical skill (gained through the completion of several jobs

recorded in this logbook)

• Completion and passing several online modules relating to your

work

• Passing regular Technical Assessments during after your Probation

• Time (the time taken to gain the practical skill)

• Experience (as measure by your ability to complete an increasing

number of jobs each day)

2
ASSESSMENT

Your practical skills will be assessed by your Branch Supervisor and/or

your Technical Trainer on a regular basis. During these assessments the
Technical Trainer will prepare a Training Development Plan for the
following period. This will include assigning new competencies to gain
experience for the next assessing period.

Evidence that you have the appropriate skill will be provided by the jobs
recorded in this Logbook and using “Third Party Evidence” recording.

Consequently, Ensure that all jobs are recorded in this Logbook and your
Branch Supervisor has signed off each job to validate your experience
and competency.

The number of jobs that is required differs from competency to

competency, some will require 15 pieces of evidence others according
to the “Third Party Evidence” criteria required. Of cause, the more jobs
you record only reinforces your experience thus competence.

The list of competencies is shown in the table on the next page,

including the approximate assessing month for that competency.
