INTRODUCTION

The internet is an international computer network that provides a range of information and
communication services. It is made up of linked networks that use defined communication
protocols. Many individuals nowadays use the internet to stay in contact with their friends and
family, to receive ideas or information, and to see images and videos. It is probable that people's
use of the internet has become an important element of their everyday lives.

Online buying is a new shopping trend that is gradually becoming an important aspect of daily
living. Online purchasing has grown dramatically in recent years as a result of broad internet
access and e-commerce use by merchants. Internet shopping has risen in popularity over the
years, owing to the convenience and ease with which consumers may bargain shop from the
comfort of their own home or workplace. One of the most appealing aspects of internet
shopping, particularly during the Christmas season, is that it eliminates the need to stand in
lengthy lines or hunt from store to store for a certain item.

Part-time employment, according to Ronald D'Amico (1994), "provides opportunity to acquire

increased responsibility, authority, and cooperative reliance." Students who work part-time will
gain networking skills, as well as contacts and references that will be useful for future career
prospects.

Selling directly online broadens your reach. Your revenues are no longer restricted by the amount
of clients who can physically visit your brick-and-mortar shop when you have an online store.
You may sell across towns, states, and even borders, erasing any geographical constraints. Your
online store also allows you to cater to customers who like to explore and buy at times when
retail outlets are often closed. Internet shopping may save both the customer and the retailer time
by minimizing phone calls concerning availability, specs, hours of operation, and other
information that can be found on company and goods pages.

Online selling is a type of electronic commerce in which a supplier sells goods or services to a
consumer directly over the internet using a web browser. Many students are now involved in
online selling since it provides them with an excellent opportunity to make more money for their
financial requirements as well as for their academics.

According to Wikipedia, a part-time contract is a type of work that has less hours per week than
a full-time job. They labor in shifts. The shifts are frequently rotating. Part-time employees often
work fewer than 30 hours each week. According to the International Labor Organization, the
proportion of part-time employees in most developed nations, except the United States, has
climbed from one-fourth to 50% in the last 20 years.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aimed to show the effect of the implications of internet retailing as a part-time
employment on the students of JC Christian Academy.
Specifically, this sought to answer the following questions:

1. What are the effects of online selling as part-time jobs?

2.1. Academic Performance
2.2. Health
2.3. Family

2. What are the profile of the respondents in terms of:

1.1. Age
1.2. Gender
1.3. Grade level

3. What is the degree of awareness among students about the implications of internet selling?
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

This study aimed to show the effect of the implications of internet retailing as a part-time
employment on the students of JC Christian Academy.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Students. This study will increase the knowledge of students on how online selling
affects the students in different areas such as the health and academic performance of
the students that make online selling as part time jobs.

Teachers. This study will help teachers to understand their students that are positively and
negatively affected by online selling as their part time job.

Parents. This study will make parents understand their role as they guide their children in
home which is their first school. It will also increase the awareness of the parents if
ever there are changes in the academic performance and health condition of the student who
make online selling as part time job.

School Administration. This study will help the school administration to build possible solutions
to the negative effects this study is concern of.

Future Researchers. This study will give them relevant ideas about the negative and positive
effects of online selling as part time jobs in conducting further study that is modified and
coherent to this study itself.
SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

This investigation will be carried out at JC Christian School in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. It
will be held during the second semester of the school year 2022-2023. This study is limited to
senior highschool students only at JC Christian Academy. The researchers intended the selected
respondents to provide vivid information about this study, and they are competent individuals to
answer and offer their thoughts about this study. This study's findings will benefit parents,
administration, future researchers, and, most importantly, Senior High School students and
instructors.
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
The researchers used various reading materials linked to internet selling and part-time occupations to have
a better knowledge of the subject. These resources, such as books, periodicals, newspapers, theses, and
other online pieces, are critical in increasing the researchers' expertise. They will also help the researchers
reach their goals by providing suggestions from other related material and making modifications as
needed.

Foreign Literature
Marketers may now add value to their products and services by using the internet. The
remarkable expansion and expanding popularity of the internet and the World Wide Web has
become a crucial factor in attracting more consumers and businesses to participate in the benefits
of Electronic Commerce (Ecommerce). (Aldin, et.al, 2014)

Elton (2012), mentioned that the ecommerce website has deflated the dissimilarity of
the world. This made online selling popular to those social media users which
includes the increasing population of teenagers who are interested in online selling
and shopping.

According to Go (2012), running an internet business is far superior to starting a physical store.
Selling online is one of the best methods to generate money online. In reality, it is a terrific
method to broaden your target market and develop your business quickly. According to Carolyn
Anderson (2012), "by placing your business online, you are also broadening your reach
globally." It is critical to review some online selling techniques that might help you sell
successfully. Because of the popularity of online retailing, students see it as a fantastic way to
work part-time while still studying.

Employment can be beneficial if working hours and study time are matched.

(rephrase) Ronald D'Amico (1994), claims that part-time work allows you to take on more
responsibility, authority, and cooperative independence. Students who work part-time will gain
networking skills, as well as contacts and references that will be useful for future career
prospects. Companies may favor students who worked part-time while in college since it
demonstrates superior management abilities. Furthermore, there is a strong likelihood that
students who worked part-time will be hired full-time by the same employer once they graduate.

Employment can have a positive effect if working hours and study are balanced (Cheng 1995).
Green (2001) stated “that they [students] had gained job skills, experience, and knowledge of
a variety of jobs, a sense of accomplishment, a feeling of responsibility, and money for
personal and school expenses".

Research done by the University of Canberra shows that paid employment did not have a large
effect on grades. Results show that some paid employment improves grades slightly but working
more than twenty-two hours per week has a negative effect.

According to one study, working too many hours promotes weariness and may result in poor
academic performance. According to Carskadon (1999), students who work more than 20 hours
per week have altered their sleeping patterns, resulting in later bedtimes, shorter sleeps, the
potential of falling asleep in class, late arrivals at school, or missing lectures.

Many students who work part time find they have limited time for their hobbies and
extracurricular activities (Hope, 1990). However, students who work part-time become
financially independent and learn how to effectively manage finances.

Local Literature
Internet purchasing and selling has been increasingly popular in the Philippines in recent years. A
research done in 2015 revealed that 9 out of 10 Filipinos favored internet shopping. According to the
same poll, the primary reasons for respondents' preference for online shopping were convenience, lower
pricing, and special promotions. (Maglinong, 2018)

According to Lacson et.al (2006), In the Philippines, e-commerce is largely used by major merchants and
international organizations for bank-to-bank e/change.0 Nevertheless, a variety of business-to-consumer
transactions, such as auctions, online shopping, and online banking, have evolved throughout the years.
Filipino businesses have yet to completely realize the benefits of e-commerce, which would allow them
to compete in both domestic and worldwide markets. These companies will change their business
practices as they prepare to handle e-commerce. These adjustments are projected to have an influence
on the well-being of Filipino employees. Most studies to quantify the economic consequences of
e-commerce, including those on worker wellbeing, have concentrated on the United States and Europe,
which are regarded as e-commerce pioneers. (Roberto, 2002)

In general, discussing the changes in the nature of work from the front to back office is likely within the
sectors performing services employment demand for these industries, they may be focused away
from agents and blue collared workers, toward higher management and executive staff.
