Earth was compose of 7 billion population of people, and it's certain it is compose

of different kind of groups. One example of it was the Tribes. According to the
Oxford Dictionary of Sociology, Tribe is a social group bound together by kin and
duly associated with a particular territory; members of the tribe share the social

autonomy of the nation.

There are 134 ethnic groups in the Philippines, the majority of which are
indigenous, and Badjao was one of the most commonly known tribe in our country
based on the local.

Badjao was originally from Malaysia and Indonesia. They are a sea-dwelling tribe,
often known as the “Sea Nomads”, who have been floating off the shores of Southeast
Asia for centuries. As a nomadic tribe living in stilt huts or boat houses on
shallow waters, they make their living from traditional free-diving for fish and
pearls.

But, over the decades, because of wars, piracy, discrimination, and fishing and
environmental issues it led them to abandon their nomadic and boat-dwelling life
and settle in shores.

They came to settle along the coasts of Sulu, Tawi-Tawi and Zamboanga in southern
Philippines from Borneo six centuries ago, and the Badjaos have tried to secure a
place of their own in a communal bond with the sea.
