Strengths and Weaknesses of Scientific Management
The Scientific Management approach is an effective method in terms of accelerating
production. By analyzing the working strength and abilities of the employees, the fastest and most
effective working method is found and the work is organized accordingly. This approach also
ensures that manufactured goods are produced at nearly the same quality wherever and whoever
produces them. In this respect, it helps to set a standard within the organization and to shape the
buyer profile according to these standards. Another positive aspect of this approach is the
minimization of waste. This includes not only material waste, but also labor and time savings. In
other words, both material and moral waste is kept to a minimum, and loss is prevented.

Of course, this approach also has its downsides. The first of these is that it sees employees
as robots. From this point of view, the individual characteristics, mental capacities, etc. of the
robotized employees are ignored. Although it is a beneficial approach to the organization itself, it is
getting more and more difficult to implement in the individualized world, because no matter what
job the people work in, they want to gain from that job without sacrificing their individual
characteristics and by doing jobs that can provide them with benefits in sickness or in health and
make them happy. The second negative aspect of this approach is that the goods that customers
receive are the same as everyone else's. While this may make customers happy in some respects, it
may create unhappiness for some products or services. For example, someone who wants to buy a
unique carpet that can only be found in his home would not prefer to buy it from companies that use
this approach.
