CONJUNCTION

Conjunction atau kata sambung digunakan untuk menghubungkan dua kata atau dua
kalimat yang sejenis atau setara (pararellism) agar tidak membosankan atau monoton.
Namun apabila tidak diinginkan, kata sambung bisa dihilangkan dan sama sekali tidak
mengubah arti kalimat tersebut. Adapun yang dimaksud dengan dengan pararellism means
connecting two similar of equivalent words.

1. Noun and Noun

I bought some books and pencils yesterday

2. Verb and Verb
She always comes and goes out through this way

3. Adverb and Adverb

Kata sambung didepannya tidak harus selalu terletak di antara kedua kalimat yang
dihubungkannya, namun bisa juga depannya, asal tetap berfungsi menghubungkan dua kata
atau kalimat yang sejenis, misalnya anda boleh mengatakan:

“I couldn’t go any where, because of heavy rain yesterday

or
Because of heavy rain yesterday, I couldn’t go anywhere

Bahkan kata sambung juga bisa diletakkan di akhir kalimat. Misalnya Anda boleh
mengatakan:

Are you going to write a letter? Call instead!” or Instead of writing a letter, you had better
call!”
