BRIDGING LEADERSHIP
The goal of bridging leadership is to establish and maintain productive working
relationships with important partners and stakeholders. A common agenda can start to be
formed and communicated in order to discover answers to social and economic problems
by "bridging" the disparate viewpoints and opinions that are frequently found across the
spectrum of diverse stakeholders.
According to Global Journal of Management and Business Research: Administration
and Management, there are essential elements of Bridging Leadership, first, leadership is a
multidirectional, non-coercive relationship built on influence. Second, there are leaders and
followers in the interaction; there are probably multiples of both, and the followers are
active and affect the leaders. Third, the idea of genuine purposeful change is crucial. Finally,
during the bridging activities, shared goals are formed, which could result in a change that
is prioritized, defined, and wanted by all stakeholder’s common origin or perception.
Bridging Leadership enhances each stakeholder's comparative advantages and
makes long-term societal transformation conceivable based on common goals, shared
values, and understanding. Fostering intersectoral cooperation between industry,
community, and government requires strong leadership.
In “Leaders without Borders”, Mark Gerzon states, “being a leader is more than
just what we do; it involves who we are”. Leadership is therefore more than just a
procedure; it is a metaphor for how we are attempting to alter both ourselves and the
environment around us and partnership that reflects and speaks to our very being. All
methods of leadership are based on a set of ideals or principles.
The key to the leadership notion is an individual's capacity to pass from a personal
understanding and ownership of a societal problem to a group effort to fix the problem. It
involves organizing group efforts to effect social change. Based from the materials
presented the leadership acts involve three main segments, Building Ownership of the
response, Developing Co-Ownership with other stakeholders and together engaging in the
Co-Creation of a new reality. Ownership explained that the bridge leader understands that
the intricacy of the issue can only be handled by bringing together the stakeholders on
opposite sides of the gap. His ideals and convictions motivate him to take personal action to
overcome inequalities and societal divides, while Co-ownership described that the parties
reach a shared vision and coordinated response to the problem through a process of
involvement and communication. On the other hand, co-creation explained that the
stakeholders then choose a social innovation that produces the desired societal result and
implement it via new institutional frameworks. These institutional arrangements are
ensured to have clear and quantifiable goals with the necessary capability and resources to
demonstrate outcomes by the bridge leader and the coalition of stakeholders. They

evaluate the individual and group roles and responsibilities in the process on a regular
basis while also reviewing their progress in relation to the desired societal outcome.
The goal of bridging leadership is to build or improve bridging social capital. Those
who can comprehend, motivate, and direct groups of people with disparate objectives to
take effective collective action are known as bridging leaders and they are the ones who
can overcoming challenges or achieving objectives in difficult situations. The leaders of
Bridging work to combat social marginalization. We require more unifying leaders if we are
to help the people of Planet Earth to overcome the challenging issues of the twenty-first
century, such as poverty, environmental collapse, ethno-religious strife, and the possibility
of nuclear catastrophe.
