History of Atoms
Alexandre-Émile Béguyer de Chancourtois-a French geologist and mineralogist who was the first to
arrange the chemical elements in order of atomic weights, doing so in 1862.
John Newlands -The first person to devise a table of chemical elements, arranged in order of their
relative atomic mass.
Lothar Meyer- He was the first person to recognise the periodic trends in the properties of elements,
and the graph shows the pattern he saw in the atomic volume of an element plotted against its atomic
weight.
Dmitri Mendeleev- Father of the Periodic Table. He is best known for formulating the Periodic Law and
creating a version of the periodic table of elements. Arranged the periodic table in increasing
relative atomic mass.
Henrey Moseley- He arranged the elements in the periodic table according to atomic numbers
in 1913.
