Students will be able to:

● Students will be able to… devise a character outline for a protagonist in Forgiveness.
● Students will be able to… identify experiences, sentences, and phrases that impact Ralph’s character development
during war times.

ASSESSMENTS (How I will know students have achieved the objective(s)

 Silhouette Activity - Using their highlighted sentences or phrases from the chapter, students will fill out the Ralph
Silhouette Worksheet. The sentences/ phrases will be written in small groups of 3-4 students and written outside of the
silhouette in an organized manner. This is a formative assessment that indicates students’ depth of understanding about
Ralph and a soldier’s perspective. This assignment will scaffold into the larger Tweet Activity later in the unit.
 Observation – I will walk between groups and listen to their examples and discussions. If students are on task and in the
zone, I will leave them to it. However, if they seem to need extra support, I will work with them to help get them started.
