same money for doing a cleaning job. Now Petra has three times as much

5. One third of the class is absent and 16 children are present. How many

6. A causal worked 7 hours per day from Monday to Friday and 4 hours on
Saturday. The rate of pay from Monday to Friday is shs.5500 per hour
and on Saturday it is shs.8,500 per hour. How much did he get at the
end of the week? (04)

7. A computer personnel is hired out at rate of 500 shillings per minute.


How much will he be paid if works from 06:30am to 18:00 hours? (04)

8. The radius of a certain planet is 6.4 × 10 𝑚. Calculate the


circumference of the planet. Take (𝜋 = 3.14) give your answer in
standard form and to three significant figures. (04)

13. The distance –time graph below describes the journey of two cars X and Y
between two stations A and B. Car X and car both reach point B 100km from From A
at 1100.

i) Calculate the speed of the car X between 0700 and 0800


ii) Calculate the speed of the car Y between 0900 and 1100
iii) Explain what is happening to the Car X between 0800 and 0900

b) Shakur walks 420m from his house to a shop in 7 minutes. He spends 5


minutes at the shop and then walks home in 6 minutes. Calculate the average
speed for the journey.
