The instructor provided us with the data in an excel sheet and that excel sheet included 5
columns with the values of y, x1, x2, x3 and x4. Then we made more 20 columns which elaborated the
products of each identity with one another. All the values in the form of table will be provided in the
end of this report.
Then we have an equation which is called “Multiple Linear Regression Model”. The Equation is as
follows:
n n
SSE=∑ e =∑ ( y i−bo−b1 x 1 i−b 2 x 2 i−…−bk x ki )
2 2
i
i=1 i=1

Where bo, b1, b2, b3 and b4 and would be found after we put the values in the derived equations through
this equation. The derived equations through this equation are as follows:
n n n n
n b o+ b1 ∑ x1 i +b 2 ∑ x 2 i+ …+b k ∑ x k i=∑ y i
i=1 i=1 i=1 i=1

n n n n n
b o ∑ x 1 i +b1 ∑ x 21i +b 2 ∑ x 21 i+ …+b k ∑ x 1 i x k i=∑ x 1 i y i
i=1 i=1 i=1 i=1 i=1

. . . . .
. . . . .
. . . . .
n n n n n
b o ∑ x k i +b 1 ∑ x k i x 1 i+ b2 ∑ x ki x 2i + …+bk ∑ x =∑ x k i y i2
1i
i=1 i=1 i=1 i=1 i=1

According to our data we will have 5 equations to put data in them which are as follows:

n b o+ b1 ∑ x1 +b 2 ∑ x 2 +b3 ∑ x 3+ b4 ∑ x 4 =∑ y

b o ∑ x 1 +b1 ∑ x 1 x 1+ b2 ∑ x1 x 2+ b3 ∑ x1 x3 + b4 ∑ x 1 x 4 =∑ x 1 y

b o ∑ x 1 +b1 ∑ x 2 x 1 +b2 ∑ x 2 x 2+ b3 ∑ x2 x 3+ b4 ∑ x 2 x 4 =∑ x 2 y

b o ∑ x 1 +b1 ∑ x 3 x 1 +b2 ∑ x 3 x 2+ b3 ∑ x 3 x 3 +b4 ∑ x 3 x 4=∑ x 3 y

b o ∑ x 1 +b1 ∑ x 4 x1 +b 2 ∑ x 4 x 2+ b3 ∑ x 4 x 3 +b 4 ∑ x 4 x 4=∑ x 4 y
After we put values from the datasets in these equations, these equations become:
200 b o+ b1 . 360.76+ b2 .−646.96+b 3 .−1475.62+ b4 . 185.01=−776.31

360.76 b o+ b1 .14465.71+b2 .−7247.39+ b3 .−2845.23+b 4 .6152.74=5377.88

−646.96 b o+ b1 .−7247.39+b 2 . 127243.47+b3 . 110541.82+ b4 . 4208.40=116654.30

−1475.62 bo +b 1 .−2845.23+b2 .110541.82+b 3 . 296938.13+b 4 .−2299.71=200248.77

185.01 bo +b 1 . 6152.74+b 2 . 4208.40+ b3 .−2299.71+b 4 .8345.03=8107.50
